Title: Queries Regarding Unpaid National Pension and Reentering Japan: Seeking Assistance from AI Legalese Decoder

Introduction:
Greetings! I have a unique situation that I believe warrants a detailed explanation. I lived in Japan from 2019-2022, where I held two jobs at different periods. However, there were two instances during that time when I was unemployed for a few weeks each. Despite being a visa holder during those periods, I failed to contribute to the National Pension Scheme as required. Now, as I aim to reenter Japan on a work visa after working in America for over a year and a half, I am eager to resolve my financial obligations by paying the outstanding pension contributions before pursuing job opportunities. However, I am unsure if it is possible to settle this matter remotely without physically returning to Japan. Moreover, I also lack a mynumber card.

The Unique Situation:
During my stay in Japan, spanning from 2019 to 2022, I held two different jobs. Regrettably, on two separate occasions, I experienced periods of unemployment lasting a few weeks each. Despite remaining as a valid visa holder during these gaps, I faltered in fulfilling my responsibility of contributing to the National Pension Scheme independently, rather than through an employer. Although I received several reminders via mail to make the required payments, I failed to address the situation promptly.

The Current Context:
Fast forward to the present, I have been employed in America for over a year and a half, and I am now keen on returning to Japan under a work visa. However, before embarking on this journey, I am determined to rectify my past financial oversight by settling the two months of unpaid pension contributions. Consequently, I aim to avoid any potential visa-related complications that may arise later.

Addressing the Unpaid Contributions:
Given my current circumstances residing in America, I am unsure if there is a viable solution to fulfill my outstanding pension payments without physically returning to Japan. This predicament marks the crux of my inquiry. Is there a way to settle the arrears without a physical presence in the country?

Conclusion:
To summarize, as an American who resided in Japan for two years, I find myself owing two months of unpaid National Pension contributions. To ensure a smooth reentry into Japan without visa-related complications, I am eager to settle these dues prior to seeking new employment opportunities. However, the feasibility of resolving this matter remotely, coupled with my lack of a mynumber card, adds complexity to the situation. I don’t know how you would do this from outside of Japan. I tend to doubt you’d have a problem if you have an employer willing to sponsor you for a visa to come back to Japan. Once you get here you should work it out at your local ward office. I suppose you could ask the consular office when you are getting your visa done if that will be an issue. Idk. I would probably leave it alone.

I left Japan and came back. Had totally thrown away my pension book. Didn’t know what that bit of paper was for. But I believe I was up to date. Then I got redundant and didn’t pay my personal pension amount for like a year. Then I went to get PR and before that, just checked up on it and they told me what I owed and I paid it – done. No drama. They just want the pension funded was my impression.

When you come back and start setting up your pension again at the city hall if youÔÇÖre still on record theyÔÇÖll just tell you the outstanding and you just pay the full fee. I had to do this during corona times when wasnÔÇÖt working.
