Supporting Small Businesses in West Texas through Meet the Buyer Event

SAN ANGELO, Texas ÔÇö Government agencies will be joining together next month in West Texas to share a common idea: supporting small businesses.

On November 2nd, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Business Resource Center in San Angelo, located at 69 N. Chadbourne St., will host the Meet the Buyer for Small Businesses event. This free event is organized by the Texas Tech University Northwest Texas APEX Accelerator Center in collaboration with the Angelo State Small Business Development Center and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. Its primary goal is to increase knowledge and understanding of government organizations, bids, websites, contracts, and more, all with the aim of assisting small businesses.

The APEX Accelerator Center, previously known as PTAC, is an organization dedicated to providing support to small businesses in their interactions with local, state, and national agencies. It is partially funded by the Department of Defense and has recently introduced a free counselor service to the San Angelo community. Rich Lyles, the regional director of the APEX Accelerator Center, expressed gratitude for the participation of various agencies in the event, both from outside the region and within San Angelo. He emphasized the importance of face-to-face interactions between agency representatives and business owners, recognizing the potential for increased government contracting opportunities in the San Angelo area.

Attendees at the Meet the Buyer event can expect the participation of agencies such as Goodfellow Air Force Base, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, BuyBoard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, TxDOT, USDA, San Angelo Independent School District, and Angelo State.

While attendance is free, interested individuals are required to sign up in advance at nwtapex to secure a spot. Additionally, lunch will be provided by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Economic Development. However, due to limited enrollment, early registration is recommended to guarantee a seat.
