## Investment Strategy for an EU Resident
I am a 29-year-old individual who has experience in mutual fund investments in my home country. Recently, I have shifted my focus to ETFs and investments as an EU resident. My goal is to engage in passive investing for the long term. After conducting extensive research, I have crafted a diversified portfolio allocation plan.
### Portfolio Allocation Breakdown
– **VHVE (FTSE Developed Market Acc)** – 65%
– **VFEA (FTSE Emerging Markets Acc)** – 15%
– **IUSN (MSCI World Small Cap Acc)** – 20%
### Rationale Behind my Investment Strategy
Upon reflection, I recognize the common recommendation of ‘VWCE and chill’ for passive investing. However, I have chosen to allocate a portion towards small caps to diversify my portfolio. As I age, I anticipate gradually reducing my small-cap exposure.
### Unique Approach
I have opted for a combination of VHVE and VFEA instead of solely investing in VWCE to gain a heightened exposure to emerging markets. While VWCE offers around 10% exposure to emerging markets, I desired a more substantial presence in this sector.

1. Do you know that you can have DM, EM and Small Caps in one ETF?
SPDR MSCI ACWI IMI UCITS ETF
You can check what is included in MSCI ACWI IMI on this website: [https://marketcaps.site/](https://marketcaps.site/)
2. How do you plan to rebalance your portfolio? Have you considered the extra work, fees and taxes which will be a result of using 3 ETFs instead of one?
It’s cool, my portfolio is similar but I have small cap value instead of small cap.
Hey!
If you are investing via platform, which does not have extra fees with more ETFs, I would go further and split
* VHVE (FTSE Developed Market Acc) 65% into
* SPDR S&P 500 UCITS ETF [IE000XZSV718](https://www.morningstar.fi/fi/etf/snapshot/snapshot.aspx?id=0P0001RV6M) SPYL (expenses are 0,03% vs your current choise 0,12%)
* Amundi Stoxx Europe 600 UCITS ETF [LU0908500753](https://www.morningstar.fi/fi/etf/snapshot/snapshot.aspx?id=0P0001SGE4) LYP6 (expenses are 0,07% vs your current choise 0,12%)
* and for the third, since VHVE has 6,91% allocation to Japan
* Amundi MSCI Japan UCITS ETF Acc [LU1781541252](https://www.morningstar.fi/fi/etf/snapshot/snapshot.aspx?id=0P0001CXZL) LCUJ (same expense level)
* With these three, you lose couple countries like Canada (with 2,46% allocation), but in the long run the expenses are being lower, especially if you are planning to invest in these for decades. Also, it is easier for change allocation e.g. US will go crazy and you want to invest more to Europe or something…
* VFEA (FTSE Emerging Markets Acc) 15% is putting 25,78% into China, and I personally do not see China such as a favourable option (not a democratic country, issues with population and housing etc..), so I would switch that to
* Amundi MSCI Emerging Ex China UCITS ETF Acc (EUR) [LU2009202107](https://www.morningstar.fi/fi/etf/snapshot/snapshot.aspx?id=0P0001I1CV) EMXC – also the expenses are 0,07% lower than in your choise
* On your small caps choice I do not have any opinion 🙂
It is a good portfolio. Personally i would ditch the sc and add scv + momentum, but this is related to my beliefs.
Great portfolio! I also like to split VWCE to have more freedom in the allocation.
Do you have any particular reason why you chose VHVE + VFEA instead of IWDA + EMIM ?
It’s fine.
Personally I like ETF . I put around 40% in ETF and megacap stocks individually I have added with any weakness in price. I like Stocks more
