Fairly easy, pay a notary to witness the signature, get bank statements and proof of address. Some need a certified copy of an ID. Took about 2 weeks to get the funds out with Fisher funds. Govt contributions go back to the govt
Do you plan on ever coming back?
Make sure you have your overseas address on a NZbank account where the funds will go. That was a bit of a hiccup for me – we have a relative getting our NZmail so we left the address there but that caused issues for this process
I did, quite some time ago though. It was pretty straightforward, for me getting the documents signed was easiest to go through the NZ embassy but this likely varies depending on where you are.
I think the government contributions get returned to the government. The account definitely gets closed.
I did but, was fairly straight forward, but regretted it actually. Was good at the time but in the long run with all the gains of the past 10 years or so, should’ve just left as is!
Was easy as fuck for me. Filled out the forms from anz, paid a lawyer 10 pounds for the five minutes it took him to witness the statutory declaration that I had moved permanently and sign it off. Had the money in a few days.
