## Coping with the Aftermath of a Loved One’s Arrest
My husband was arrested 5 months ago. He was bailed out 2 months later and now lives with family. I love my husband dearly and visit him regularly, but as the court date approaches, I am overwhelmed with questions and fears. The plea deal on the table is for 1 year with time served and probation. The thought of facing life without him after being together for over 15 years is absolutely heartbreaking. However, the uncertainty of what comes next is equally terrifying.
Living in a small town where everyone knows about the situation due to the police raiding our home, I worry about how we will ever lead a normal life again. How will we interact with our neighbors, and will they see us differently now?
As I struggle to keep things together and support our kids while my husband is unable to contribute, it feels like an insurmountable challenge. It’s hard to see a way out of this difficult situation, but I cling to the hope that things will improve in time.

Hi, stay strong. I guess it all depends on the tier / state/ case.
Things will get a bit complicated for your husband but it’s not the end of the world. Like I said it depends on his case / tier
PA here, I am a T1 married for 16 years with 2 kids. Minimum restrictions ( I petitioned it to court)
I’m soon to be off the registry
Been to Disney with my kids, different states, traveled international.. Germany, Italy, Spain, got kick out of Mexico ( I didn’t know I couldn’t go there)
All I’m trying to say is. Stay positive, it’s hard but not a life ending situation. Be supportive and make sure your husband follow his rules. Make sure he is good with his parole or probation officer. I did and it went super easy for me. ( he helped me end up my probation earlier)
Work is a bit difficult too but we live in america and there’s so many opportunities even with a felony.
Make sure he understands his restrictions and responsibilities. There’s only white or black. No grey in between and life should be a bit easier.
Depending on what he does for a living, maybe find a job in construction and start from there?? truck driving??? That’s homework that your husband needs to do when he gets out.
I hope everything works out for you and please stay positive.
This place helped me find so many ideas and tools to guide me in life. There’s great people here in Reddit that will help you like they helped me. Read the threads and get some info.
I hope I helped a bit
God bless
I relocated to an adjoining state before our daughter started school to make sure she didn’t get harassed by classmates. I didn’t leave anything behind that mattered except my wife’s family. We’ve always been close. I visited them whenever I drove the 200 miles to visit my wife. All our friends deserted us. I seem to have gotten radioactive as soon as word got around that she was arrested and what for. You’ll know who your true friends are after the rest abandon you. Lean on them. Remember, this too shall pass.
Very similar situation here. We’re 18+ months out from the search warrant and arrest. We’ve stayed together the whole time, but it’s been far from easy. It’s a choice and I wouldn’t do anything differently.
I’ve seen all the court documents and I believe my husband when he says he didn’t acquire or distribute anything intentionally. It all comes down to two pictures.
Pray/meditate, get therapy if you can, set firm boundaries. Every situation is different.
We are hoping to move as soon as possible. We’d like to stay in our current state, just GTFO of our neighborhood.
Idk about all felons but SO are not just like Canada. There are thread here that can help you figure out what countries will and won’t allow you in ..
Just here to say I’m in a similar position. Spouse was arrested during raid a few months ago, released that day, still waiting charges. We have two very young kids. It’s awful. If he returns to living with us, we’ll be moving for sure.
Hi,
I’m a spouse, we got together after his conviction. We are in California so luckily our restrictions aren’t bad here. We have traveled, live pretty much a normal life, gone to amusement parks.
For people who ask we do have them details.
Only thing for children is here he has to have permission to be on our future kids school campus for awards, conferences, etc.
Here at a certain point and depending on the tier level you can apply from removal.
Get better will depend on your state and their restrictions/requirements.
Small towns can be hard to deal with because people can be nosy.
