Finding the Best Credit Card for Accumulating Airpoints
When it comes to accumulating air points, it’s essential to choose a credit card that offers the most benefits. We initially opted for the ANZ Platinum Airpoints card, only to realize that it’s limited to specific stores and doesn’t accrue as many points as we had hoped for. After further research, it seems that the Amex Airpoints Platinum card is a better option for maximizing air points.
With our upcoming overseas trip, we wanted to make the most of our spending by earning airpoints. Amex airpoints platinum. Get the 300 bonus airpoints offer and it pays the card off with the annual fee. 1 airpoints for every $59 you spend which is the best of all cards out there
YouÔÇÖre not quite right about it being specific stores – from the ANZ site
>Get 1 Airpoints Dollar for every $110 you spend
WeÔÇÖve had the ANZ platinum for a few years, and use it for almost everything. You can *also* get airpoints at some retailers using the Air NZ app (or an airpoints card if you have one) on top of your spend through the credit card. So, if you spend $350 at Mitre10, you get 3 airpoints on the credit card (3 x $110) and another 3 airpoints via your airpoints card/Air NZ app (3 x $115) for a total of 6.
Honestly, youÔÇÖre probably better getting the TSB cashback card. $1 back for every $70 spent, and you can use that $1 _anywhere_, not just with AirNZ. Depending where youÔÇÖre flying, AirNZ with a discount from paying some with points might still be more expensive than paying another airline cash.
Mastercard is also more widely accepted. Amex is improving, but still a big gap there.
Amex is the best had ANZ for over 6 years and got a Amex last year have earned 1800$ Airpoints while ANZ in 6 years gave only 1200$ Airpoints
I have both ANZ platinum and Amex platinum more recently. If you kick up a fuss, ANZ can waive the fee for you which is what I did as well as knowing some people that work there which is why I justified having both cards.
I got the Amex recently and the 300 bonus points is great for the first year as it pays your card fee and the earn rate is fast. I definitely noticed a lot of places donÔÇÖt accept it so IÔÇÖve mainly used it for groceries, nice restaurants, maccas, Kmart and essentially it earns twice as fast as the ANZ. I use my anz for everything else that doesnÔÇÖt accept Amex. Getting the fee removed if you can for anz will help justify having both, otherwise IÔÇÖm not sure itÔÇÖs worth it unless you actually spend a lot
NOT Westpac (at least standard Mastercard), 1 pt for every $150 up to $3,500
Then I believe 1 pt for every $300 thereafter
It was a really crap nerf from the original flat $120 rate
Flightcentre Mastercard. Yields 1.5% vs ANZ 0.9%, the annual fee is only $50. Plus, youÔÇÖre not stuck using AIR.
I have both AMEX Platinum and ANZ Airpoints VISA Platinum as backup for shops that don’t accept AMEX. I maximize my benefits from AMEX by using their promos and lounge access. This makes the annual fee worth it.
Amex has quickest earning potential but I found it wasn’t accepted at a lot of places so went back to Westpac Platinum
AMEX Platinum with partners card linked too. We earn $120-180 airpoints dollars a month
The AMEX Platinum is always best, but the downside is the minimal acceptance, especially in NZ. I’d personally go for the TSB cashback, better earn rates and you can use it on anything cause it’s actual cash.
Kiwi bank platinum visa.
Amex has more airpoints per spend, but bugger all retailers accept it in NZ.
