    TD isnÔÇÖt down at that time each day, IÔÇÖve very rarely encountered service issues of this nature. Holds are tricky, for the new accounts theyÔÇÖre more strict and ATM deposits, but if you go in the bank regularly the tellers will start cashing cheques without hassles.

    BMO release 1000$ for the first day and then release everything the second business day

    Just call them and ask then to release more funds, if there really is a 5 year history of the same cheque every 2 weeks they should have no issues doing it.

    Tell them your missing bills because of thier hold.

    Scotiabank used to do the same thing to me. It was because I hadnÔÇÖt made a minimum payment on my credit card account by accident. I had to go to my home bank & plead with them. They lifted it, and I havenÔÇÖt had an issue since.

    We had our VISA with them.

    A fairly large fraudulent charge was not flagged by their security systems (If they have any). We luckily saw it within a day and reported it. It took 2 1/2 months before issue was settled. Very difficult to communicate with them and agents were unhelpful.

    We bank with BMO. No longer using the Scotia VISA and will abandon it. Using BMO Mastercard now as main card.

    have been with cibc for years. Amazing bank imo. Before have used rbc, td/canada trust. Cibc hands down.

    I had this issue with Scotia when I was in high school, where theyÔÇÖd hold a certain amount no matter what and they tried to control my limits etc because the teller didnÔÇÖt think a 17 year old needed more than $10ÔÇØ at a time. My suggestion is to speak with someone at the branch or give them a call. See if your type of chequing account could be causing the issue, etc. Scotia can be a real pain sometimes

    Switched to Scotia a couple years ago- closed all accounts and CC within a year.

    Online banking didnÔÇÖt let me transfer between checking and savings and nobody could help – was told to use the phone app.

    Others problems too with claiming sign-up bonus.

    Most people have direct deposit

    Your lucky they give you $200

    They donÔÇÖt have to give you $0.01 Cent.

    Start budgeting better, make more money and stop living paycheck to paycheck

    You should be making more money, if your checks are the exact same you have more problems

    Op talk to an advisor, calmly and respectfully, they should be able to increase your limits

    If they are only releasing that amount it’s most likely your credit bureau and financial history are not amazing. Ask them what their parameters are and why the nominal release, and how you can improve.

    Also l suggest you get direct deposit. Then zero holds. This is not hard or costly to set up for employers today.

    I think $200 is pretty low.

    If you’re considering switching banks, try moving your account to the same bank your company uses and depositing the check at the same branch. You can cash the entire amount without the need for clearance.

    It depends on the customer, but CIBC releases first $5k on cheques I deposit.

    Switched from Scotia to RBC many years ago and never looked back.
    I still carry some really bad memories from Scotia years ago, and Everytime I hold a Scotia product, I still cringe a little.
