AI Legalese Decoder: Unlocking the Potential of Legal Documents

With the recent strict enforcement by the moderators, it appears that a significant number of engaging discussions are being interrupted and closed at an alarming rate. This trend raises concerns about the impact on the overall forum community and its desire for open dialogue.

It is important to consider whether this approach aligns with the desires of the forum members and if it ultimately serves the greater purpose of fostering a collaborative and diverse environment for sharing ideas and perspectives. Therefore, it would be valuable to gather insights from the community to understand their thoughts on this matter and whether there is a need for a reevaluation of the current moderation policies.

In addition to personal finance topics, there is an opportunity to explore the broader implications of such stringent enforcement on the overall forum dynamics. This could involve discussions on the role of moderation in preserving the forum’s mission, and the potential trade-offs between maintaining order and embracing a wide range of topics.

AI Legalese Decoder can offer assistance in this situation by providing a comprehensive analysis of the forum’s terms of service, community guidelines, and moderation policies. By decoding and simplifying legalese, it can help clarify the parameters for discussion and provide insights into how these policies are being applied. This can facilitate informed discussions about the impact of moderation decisions and the potential need for adjustments to better align with the community’s needs and expectations.

    ThatÔÇÖs it, youÔÇÖre banned.

  • ExternalSky

Bring back the 15 daily Sankey Matic budget posts

  • netizen__kane

It’s ok. The post asking about the price we all pay for haircuts is still open

  • V8O

I think it’s great. I’d rather read through a few interesting discussions than through hundreds of dumb ones, all about the same handful of topics.

  • Mash_man710

Credit to the mods, it was getting stupider by the day.

  • ktr83

Personally I like it as it’s taking this sub back to its roots. I get the economy sucks right now but there are only so many threads hating on landlords and migrants that we need.

  • WeaponstoMax

Yes. This is so much better. Thank you mods.

  • earwig20

    It’s an improvement.

This sub has gone from discussing the tax implications of offset accounts to complaining about migrants and landlords.

    There’s always /r/Australia /r/AusEcon or /r/AustralianPolitics

  • jagtencygnusaromatic

Because every second thread is about how expensive housing is or we are taking too many immigrants. This sub isn’t for those.

  • rpkarma

Yes itÔÇÖs absolutely what I want. This isnÔÇÖt /r/Australia. IÔÇÖm glad the mods are putting their foot down

  • Barrel-Of-Tigers

IÔÇÖm largely on board with it.

This sub has been inundated with people who either donÔÇÖt want to or canÔÇÖt be objective and stay on topic. WhatÔÇÖs the point of having a sub dedicated to Australian personal finances if weÔÇÖre going to continue to talk in circles about how renting is impacting mental health, Optus, immigration policy, and how much landlords suck.

    Go try r/Australia, r/Australian, r/AusEcon or r/AusPol.

ItÔÇÖs like going into r/AusPropertyChat and going on about how unethical investment properties are. As much as itÔÇÖs related to property investment in Australia more broadly, itÔÇÖs still off topic for the sub.

  • ZingerBurger532

If it’s off topic it needs to be locked, that’s perfectly acceptable.

There’s been an increasing number of shitposts lately.

  • Nexism

If people want to actually discuss the economy, they should bring data.

Whilst subjective responses are sometimes helpful, those threads very quickly turn political and the discussion of economy is thrown out the window.

  • nutwals

I’m loving it – I hope they lock more threads and ban more posters.

  • 10gem_elprimo

Heavy handed approach is needed. This sub has been turned into /r/Australia and its extremely disappointing that we have no where proper to discuss finances

  • spellingdetective

ÔÇ£Scrap stage 3 tax cutsÔÇØ, ÔÇ£we need an inheritance taxÔÇØÔÇØwhy is negative gearing allowed on airbnbs when I have trouble rentingÔÇØ

This forum is being hijacked OP by topics not really related to Aus finance but more belong in auspol. If you want financial advice then youve come to the right place. If you wanna go down the rabbit hole about why Albo made your mortgage or power bill more expensive theres plenty of other subs for that kind of discussion.

  • newser_reader

Locked is fine and much better than deleted. Helps to show what posts are wanted and still provide a brief discussion on some tangential thing.

  • auscrash

    > is this really what we want?

    Yes

It’s great getting this place back onto its intended topic – personal finance

  • random_named_person

Good. The sub was becoming a constant stream of “Immigrants are ruining everything” and “Landlords are the devil”.

  • SeaJayCJ

I like it. I don’t come here to read whinge and doom posts.

  • Esquatcho_Mundo

Yes. Much better than non-stop whinging about shit that isnÔÇÖt personal finance

  • serblyfe69

Good. This place has been infiltrated by the whingers in r/australia

  • darkspardaxxxx

It needs to be heavy handed or you turn this into a political discussion and constant complaining about people being unlucky or hating boomers or property investors. We need to discuss ideas or answer legitimate questions imo

  • Fuz672

Is it the pointless posts about cost of living getting locked? They’re dime a dozen and overdone now. We don’t need another thread asking crap like ‘is anyone else not doing x due to cost of living?’ or ‘how are people paying for y in this economy?’
    Lock em

  • j0shman

This sub is about budgeting and saving money, not socio-economic woes. Lock the irrelevant threads away I say

  • Everyonerighttogo

    That’s a paddlin’ for ya

  • tweek-in-a-box

    Gentlemen, this is democracy manifest.

  • FudgeSlapp

IÔÇÖm not interested in whingeing and whining about the economy. IÔÇÖm interested in discussions that are levelheaded surrounding economy and finance.

  • Decibelle

No, I approve of the new changes.

The only request I have is that some more industry-related discussion be allowed.

  • Tomicoatl

Yes, this is much more preferable and if you don’t want to discuss personal finance you should take your posts somewhere else.

  • ThatHuman6

I like it. LetÔÇÖs stay on topic of personal finance. Let other Australian subs moan about cost of living

  • AssociationThin9416

this sub desperately needs heavy moderation and i support it 100%

  • Chromedomesunite

    ItÔÇÖs about time.

ThereÔÇÖs so much crap that is posted that it takes away from what this sub is all about.

We donÔÇÖt need 10 posts a day asking ÔÇ£is my offset workingÔÇØ or ÔÇ£I think I want to quit my jobÔÇØ.

  • ShibaHook

This subreddit has EXPLODED in user numbers over the last couple of years and itÔÇÖs gone to shit.

  • TheBoyInTheBlueBox

It’s not the first time they’ve done this, I give it a week and they’ll give it up and go back to normal.

We repeat this process every 18 months or so

  • what_you_saaaaay

Well as an Australian I will say we do quite like banning things.

  • nearlynarik

I’m totally in favour of it! This sub got big in the last few years, just prior to covid, and now there is a frequent repetition of posts on interest rates, immigration, how expensive property is, bad landlords – it is drowning out other content!

Make a weekly sticky post and keep all those topics in there!

  • old-dumb-full-of-cum

yes, subs have a subject for a reason. there is too much waffle about class divide. this is a sub about personal finance.

  • SackWackAttack

The entire point of personal finance is to “get ahead”. Get ahead of what? Get ahead of others. If everyone gets 10% on VDHG you are no better off than if nobody did. Personal Finance is about saving enough money to earn passive income so you can pay others to do stuff for you and make stuff for you without the need for you to contribute with your hands. Again it is about getting ahead of others. Do you need to trade a year of your labour to buy a caravan or does society pay you 1000% more than you paid for property so you can hire 100 serfs to carry you around the country on a throne. PF is how to you arrange your affairs so that society gives you as much as possible while you contribute as little as possible. That is personal finance. Political economy plays a huge role in this.

  • JunkIsMansBestFriend

I’m over the housing discussions. A separate Reddit should handle this.

  • je_veux_sentir

There is far to much political off topic rubbish here.

Everyone is running from r/Australia to here to complain.

  • loggerheader

I think the mods are doing a good job personally

  • war-and-peace

I think that the mods should go further and just remove the post.

This sub should not be the place to discuss socioeconomic issues.

  • Money_killer

    Yes. Comply with rules …..

  • Ok-Option-82

I’m goo for threads to be locked if it’s the usual complaining etc

How about my just make a sticky titled “houses are too expensive for anyone but boomers” and call it done with that rant

  • pointless10

Yes, there’s too much of the same cost of living, cost of property, landlord troubles, “is anyone else…” etc. I want to come to this sub for useful information, not complaining and griping – we can get that from our acquaintances and extended networks.

  • nzoasisfan

I like it. This sub has turned into mid 2000s Facebook with crazy posts ranting about stuff that’s out of our control. Bring it back to good.

  • fieldy409

Good. I joined this sub to learn about money and how best to use it. I know it’s tough out there but this isn’t the place for complaining.

Now just kill all those ‘don’t save your money, spend it all on holidays bro! lifes too short for financial responsibility bla blah blah’ comments and I’ll be real happy.

  • Gh3rkinz

Yes. Because they’re not interesting topics, they’re the same damn topic, every damn day.

“Everything is bad” just reworded a little bit, every time. Not everyone wants to wallow in self pity like the rest of Reddit. Some of us want to talk about something else for a change.

  • david1610

A cautionary tale is r/economics, which is an absolute ghost town now after over moderating.

Allow all related posts and just lock them if they get too political or strategically block only the most political ones with low economic/financial content

There are more academic subs already for this if you want to only discuss economic/financial research that are much better. Economics should be discussed by all and it is inherently political. Personal finance is such an obvious thing I don’t know how much the same advice can be retold. Maximises income reduce expenses, use your offset account, invest in unmanaged stocks, pay off high interest debts first etc etc

If you don’t want economic discussion don’t have it as an allowable topic.
