## Frustrations with Government Processes

This morning, I attended an in-person VERA appointment and filled out a FOIA document similar to one I completed in November in order to obtain documents. As usual, the process seemed cumbersome and time-consuming. The VERA representative assured me that she would submit the document and I would receive the requested materials soon.

However, to my surprise, when I inquired about the possibility of having up to 10 pages printed out on-site, I was informed that the rules had changed and printing services were no longer available. Despite her polite and apologetic demeanor, I couldn’t help but feel frustrated by this bureaucratic hurdle.

She recommended that I visit the State VA office located down the hall and sign up for a VSO, who would have immediate access to the information I needed. Of course, there was a catch ÔÇô I would have to wait until the following week for the VSO to be approved by the VA as my representative.

It’s moments like these that highlight the inefficiencies and delays caused by governmental regulations. It seems like there is always another obstacle preventing me from accessing the resources I require in a timely manner.

Next week the VSO will more than likely also say that they can not print them out either..just be ready for this…

Here’s what you need to do –

1- submit a FOIA request online through the Quick Submit portal

2- wait about a week, then make an appointment with the Little Rock RO through VERA for a phone call to request copies of documents

3- during that phone call, just tell them that you would like to have a copy of your DBQ(s) printed out and mailed to you

4- wait about ten days for the DBQ copies to show up in the mail

I just did this recently and got my DBQ copies in the mail yesterday.

I believe if you have Tricare the DBQs are uploaded to your documents in Tricare Online until Oct 2024 after that date, theyÔÇÖll upload to MHS Genesis. ThatÔÇÖs where IÔÇÖve always received mine with no questions asked.

And yes, TricareOnline is being shutdown but my DBQs still upload there. ThatÔÇÖs the only use I currently have for the site.

I had the same experience. Wasted my time going downtown for nothing.

Set up a VERA call, the rep who called me back was able to email my DBQ/medical opinion to me.

Set up another call to request a different DBQ, when she called she told me she couldn’t do it. As soon as I hung up the phone I went online and scheduled yet another call.

    Repeat as needed.

I doubt this rule is Nation wide. I’ve found that Regional Offices tend to not all follow the same rules.

Example: SC RO said I couldn’t get DBQs until case was closed, NC said I could, but I had to pick them up in person, AK said they would mail them to me (and did). I got that answer all within a week of each other. So as you see, the “rules” seem to be RO specific.

This whole guarding the DBQs is BS! If you get your exams by tricare or the VA you can see the exam online within a few days. Utter BS they protect C&P examiners from scrutiny.

At this point, there simply needs to be legislative intervention to compell the VA to provide the exams immmediate after they are completed. The only hold up thats makes any sense is if its being sent back for clarification
