Christine Giglio has been appointed Bedford CountyÔÇÖs director of emergency communications (911). She previously served as the countyÔÇÖs computer aided dispatch administrator within the 911 center.

Giglio has worked for Bedford County since 2008 and the 911 center since 2018. SheÔÇÖs been a key contributor to technological and performance advancements including AlertBedford notification system, mapping applications, text to 911, Next Gen 911, database enhancements, continuity of operations protocols and developing the ÔÇ£Practice 911 for KidsÔÇØ Android app. SheÔÇÖs also worked with cyber defense teams to bring legislative attention to cyber risks in 911 centers.

Christine Giglio’s extensive experience and expertise in emergency communications has made her an invaluable asset to Bedford County. With her background in technological advancements and legislative attention to cyber risks, she is well-equipped to lead the countyÔÇÖs emergency communications department to ensure the safety and security of its residents.

Giglio has a bachelorÔÇÖs degree in communication sciences and disorders from Radford University. She has also achieved the emergency number professional (ENP) and registered public safety leader (RPL) certifications.

These certifications, combined with Giglio’s hands-on experience and technological contributions, make her a highly qualified individual to spearhead emergency communications in Bedford County.
