The Difficulty of Finding Employment Opportunities After Incarceration

Introduction

In this expanded version, I will discuss my challenges after being released from prison and how AI Legalese Decoder can provide assistance in my situation. While I won’t delve into the details of my charges, I would like to highlight my experience as a high school teacher for 15 years before my arrest and subsequent two-year sentence. Now, having been out for only two months, I am faced with the difficulty of finding a job that aligns with my previous work experience.

Limited Opportunities in Education

Despite applying for a position teaching adult-education HiSET classes at a regional community college, the uncertainty remains as to whether someone with a criminal history, like mine, would be considered for the role. Although I have also been applying for trainer positions and educational consultant roles, I am unsure whether a career in education is still a viable option, even with some distance from working with juveniles.

Exploring Alternative Income Sources

Presently, I am earning some income by selling my nerdy collectibles on Ebay. However, this is not a sustainable long-term solution. To potentially generate a more stable income, I have begun making inlaid rings, a hobby I started before my incarceration, with the hope of selling them. Nonetheless, I am uncertain if this venture will be viable as a means of earning a living.

Relocating to Rural Montgomery, LA

Within the following week, I am planning to relocate to Montgomery, LA, an extremely rural and remote area. While there are a few towns nearby that are commutable, this would require registering in another jurisdiction, adding an additional layer of complexity to my situation.

Skill Set and Qualifications

As a former teacher, I possess strong people skills and a solid foundation in mathematics, having studied up to Calculus IV and PDE (Partial Differential Equations). However, my knowledge of higher-level math is somewhat rusty. Additionally, I am well-versed in technology and possess troubleshooting abilities. My undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts equips me with a broad understanding of various subjects.

Grappling with Limited Job Opportunities

Although I am trying to view my circumstances as an opportunity, the past two months have primarily been spent applying for positions with minimal response. So far, I have secured only five interviews, but two of them were with Globe Life, an insurance company that appears to have a pyramid scheme-like structure. Unfortunately, one interview concluded abruptly after the interviewer Googled my name, and another promising opportunity later resulted in an email stating that they had chosen another candidate. Regrettably, I have not received any updates from the remaining interviews.

The Potential of AI Legalese Decoder

In the midst of these challenges, the emergence of AI Legalese Decoder offers a glimmer of hope. This revolutionary technology can assist not only in decoding complex legal jargon but also in evaluating the potential impact of criminal records on job applications. By employing AI Legalese Decoder, employers can better understand the context of an applicant’s criminal history, granting a fair evaluation of their qualifications and experiences. This technology has the potential to level the playing field for individuals like myself, who are seeking employment opportunities following incarceration.

Conclusion

While awaiting updates from the local Community College, where my application has been forwarded to the Dean, I remain hopeful for a positive outcome. However, I acknowledge that my journey to finding suitable employment may require perseverance and innovation. AI Legalese Decoder has the potential to alleviate some of the hurdles presented by my criminal history, providing a fair chance at securing meaningful employment in the future.

It is unlikely you will be get a teaching style job so soon after your conviction considering you were in a position of trust and violated that trust even if your position had nothing to do with that conviction

I suggest looking for something outside of that field.

  • Miserable_Story_4720

I was a college professor who continued to work at my University post conviction, then an “anonymous” phone call to the dean’s office was all it took to disclose I was on the registry and they fired me on the spot. It is pretty much impossible to teach at any level, even corporate training. I have tried multiple times and never get past the background checks. Very strict against RSO’s being hired across the board in education. Not even tutoring. All my students were always over 18 but it doesn’t matter, students will out you, they google their professors. Corporate people do the same, internet is a one stop shop for people to find out and get you canned.

Hmmm… Off the top of my head…

    1. writing textbooks
    2. writing study sheets
    3. ” worksheets
    4. creating course material
    5. education policy writer
    6. education tech consultant
    7. Prison educator (if that’s allowed in your state)
    8. copy editor
    9. educational sales
    10. grant writer
    11. bookkeeping

I have a friend who used to be a math teacher and decided to stay home with her kids when they were born, she started an etsy store making Excel and Google Sheets templates for various things. It was easy for her to do and she ended up making around $20k the first year.

I am/was in the same boat a few years back when I was released. I ended up going into dispatching/logistics/office management of a utility company. Same skill set as teaching without all the curriculum writing/lesson planning. Led into a possibility of buying into the company.

I found small business is much easier to get into than any large companies.

I am in a similar situation as you. I am only in the pre-trial phase but was charged in March. Since then IÔÇÖve been working as an assessment scorer for Pearson. ItÔÇÖs completely remote and contractual only 15 dollars an hour. Its definitely not a stable job but itÔÇÖs atleast something. They donÔÇÖt run background checks and IÔÇÖve been able to work on every test they have offered me.

Consider switching to IT if you are a problem solver. Won’t be easy at first but it will most definitely land you a job if u stick with it. Either that or switch to an upper level trades job, learn and get paid.

Allstate insurance hires registered SOs. It’s not education, but it’s a job. I know a SO who was hired by them and is doing well

Saw you know Calc 4 and PDE, and I assume you know integral and derivative calc as well. This is quite an accomplishment for a high school educator actually. I know it is a looonnngggg shot, but you would probably be a great tutor for high school students studying for AP test (calc AB, BC, and prob physics as well).
Hell, you could be a tutor college students struggling with required math classes. And trust me, there are tons of those student. All you have to do is hang up some flyers around a local college and wait for you phone to ring.

Obviously, I have no idea if this is allowed in your specific situation.
