****** just grabbed a
Amazon will hire sex offenders. They do background checks that go back 7 years and registry checks. As long as your conviction is over 7 years ago, they’ll take you. You just have to discuss being on the registry.
IÔÇÖm not sure about driver, but I have seen a good bit of offenders who work at Whole Foods which is owned by Amazon where I live.
I think thereÔÇÖs been some people here who have worked in their warehouses as well.
Like any job or company I think itÔÇÖs gonna depend on the area. IÔÇÖm from the Philadelphia region we have the ban the box law IÔÇÖve seen so many people on the registry who work for ups/usps. As well as Whole Foods, Walmart, FedEx , etc.
Applied to be an Amazon DSP Driver recently. After the background check came back they sent a pre-adverse action notice and said they werenÔÇÖt going to continue with my application.
UPDATES (11/13/23):
1.) The “ban the box” law in Philly is basically not followed by any employer here. Every single employer background checked me before I could be offered employment, and employment would be contingent on the background check anyway, so it effectively does nothing to help SOs or other Felons.
2.) Someone at Amazon who was more open with the hiring process told me that essentially their background check process boils down to a PASS or FAIL system that is sent back to management for DSPs and that the background check only goes back 7 years, so unfortunately it doesn’t look like I’m going to get hired by them anytime soon.
They also told me that if you don’t get a response within 48 hours, you’re basically not hired.
//
I did end up getting a job at a smaller business that does not background check.
Honestly my advice for anyone reading this thread in the future is to make sure to look for “felon friendly” or “second chance” when searching for jobs, because anyone who background checks wouldn’t hire me.
