PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD)ÔÇô Bradley UniversityÔÇÖs Small Business Development Center received an award for the ÔÇÿTop Small Business Development CenterÔÇÖ in the state today. This recognition highlights their outstanding contributions in assisting local small businesses and promoting their growth.

The Small Business AdministrationÔÇÖs Illinois District Office organized a ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate the award. SBA Region 5 Administrator Geri Aglipay, an alumna of Bradley University, presented the award and commended the center’s exceptional achievements.

In her speech, Aglipay emphasized the center’s commitment to addressing the specific needs of rural central Illinois. The Small Business Development Center at Bradley University provides entrepreneurs with access to essential knowledge, social connections, and financial resources at affordable rates through the support of the SBA.

Established in 1985, the center has thrived due to its substantial funding and dedicated staff. Eric Sampson, the director, highlights the center’s ability to guide and assist small business owners in various aspects, such as business registration, interactions with government offices like the Secretary of State’s office, the Illinois Department of Revenue, and the IRS. This guidance helps entrepreneurs understand their responsibilities and navigate complex processes effectively.

In Sampson’s words, “Helping small businesses develop is what drives me every day and gives me a sense of purpose.”
