Title: Examining Investment Options and Currency Fluctuations: How AI Legalese Decoder Can Help
Introduction:
In this discussion, we will explore the investment options of SXR8, VUAA, and IUSE, all sold in EUR. However, concerns have been raised regarding potential cancellations of earnings due to currency fluctuations between USD/EUR. Additionally, the availability of VUAA only on the London Stock Exchange poses further considerations. Thankfully, AI Legalese Decoder can provide valuable assistance in navigating these complex matters.
Investment Options: SXR8 and VUAA
SXR8 and VUAA are both promising investment opportunities denominated in EUR. However, it is crucial to address the concerns raised by market participants. This advanced technology can effectively analyze intricate legal jargon and complex language within investment agreements, providing clarity on the actual impact of currency fluctuations. By decoding and explaining the relevant legal terms, this tool helps investors assess the potential risks and benefits associated with investing in SXR8 and VUAA.
Introducing IUSE: A Currency Fluctuation Hedge
To address concerns over currency fluctuations, an alternative investment option is IUSE. As an S&P 500 Hedge, it is specifically designed to protect against such fluctuations. This characteristic offers a reassuring safeguard for those wary of the potential adverse effects of exchange rate movements.
Considering USD Denomination on the London Stock Exchange
In contemplating the purchase of VUAA in USD denomination, the limitation of its availability only on the London Stock Exchange must be taken into account. Although this might initially present a hurdle, further analysis with AI Legalese Decoder can help clarify any jurisdiction-specific considerations or legal implications associated with investing through this particular exchange.

Buying the ETF in USD won’t change anything if you value your investments in EUR.
With currency-hedged ETFs you indeed remove the exchange rate fluctuations. You remove both the beneficial and the detrimental ones though. For example, from their last peak around January 2022, VUAA and IUSE are currently down -2.5% and -9.8% and their maximum drawdowns were around -16.5% and -24.1%, respectively. So, in this example the non-hedged ETF did quite a bit better (which can always happen). Hedged ETFs also have higher costs typically.
I don’t currency-hedge my stock investments, I don’t see a reason to. Currency fluctuations should average out to zero over time.
In November, I went against the typical advice that says not to currency hedge stocks and bought a solid chunk of EUR-hedged variant.
My reasoning was:
– the dollar value was high (around parity) because of the sharp increase of interest rates by the FED
– the S&P500 index lost value because of… the sharp increase of interest rates by the FED
They were highly inversely correlated, so my decision was to hedge because it was very difficult for me to see the rise of the index (through USD lenses) without the dollar itself dropping.
The decision I made was in hindsight right; it could have been wrong, but there was a thesis behind it.
Fast forward to today, if you have a strong conviction that this trend is going to continue, go ahead. Note that the environment is not as extreme as it was in November; the inflation is dropping in both the Eurozone and in the USA, and both the ECB have now lifted the rates to significant levels. Unless the inflation starts growing again, the rates are closer to hitting the ceiling than they were in November 2022. There’s less wiggle room for this kind of play – if the stock market and the forex market aren’t hyperfocused on the same thing, the correlation is weaker and predicting whether you’ll lose or profit by hedging is more of a random bet than an educated guess.
I have both since I had a big chunk of USD when I sold my individual US stocks. That cash is now tied up in a European UCITS ETF on the S&P500 in USD currency (itÔÇÖs a separate share class of the same fund) and is traded on the LSE as you said. I own the same fund in its EUR share class (traded on XETRA) as my income is now is EUR. I donÔÇÖt see a reason to hedge but this is personal preference.
EUR if your base currency is EUR. On hedged ETFs you loose money over a long period.
