Leslie Watson of Virginia Western Community College has been honored with the George B. Vaughan Leadership Award for Outstanding Adjunct Faculty. Watson, who has been a dedicated adjunct faculty member at Virginia Western since 2007, has played a pivotal role in the School of Health Professions by spearheading the development of an Introduction to Health Professions college success course. With her expertise and passion for education, Watson continues to inspire students and contribute to the success of the college’s programs.

In addition to her academic achievements, Watson is a certified American Heart Association basic life support instructor at Carilion Clinic. Her diverse certifications in radiologic technology, CPR, first aid, and Professional Terminology Coding showcase her commitment to healthcare education. Watson also dedicates her time to various volunteer activities, further exemplifying her dedication to service and community involvement.

Carilion Clinic CEO Nancy Howell Agee has been recognized with the American Hospital Association’s prestigious Distinguished Service Award. Agee’s extensive experience and leadership have been instrumental in transforming Carilion Clinic into a patient-centered, physician-led organization. Her collaboration with Virginia Tech to establish the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine demonstrates her commitment to advancing healthcare education and creating opportunities for future medical professionals.

Randi Paxton has been appointed as vice president and chief operations officer of HopeTree Family Services. In her new role, Paxton will oversee the agency’s various programs and services, including Therapeutic Foster Care, Therapeutic Group Homes, Developmental Disabilities Ministry, HopeTree Academy, and Family Centered Treatment. Her extensive experience and leadership skills make her a valuable addition to the HopeTree team.
