Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?

A: After many people over the years commented on my unique presentation skills and the ability to connect with individuals and audiences, I started to realize my passion for helping others see what they may not see in front of them. Helping others to overcome a problem or to encourage and help them has always been a passion, especially because of being teased and bullied throughout my younger schooling years, and finding comfort in mentors that have shown me to put these negative experiences into a positive contribution towards others. Building relationships, achieving confidence through learning new abilities and skills, but creating an unwavering determination to keep pressing forward have been staples to many opportunities that I only want from others to become the best versions of themselves in this ever-changing world that we live in.

Q: How did you get your start?

A: Toastmasters International (providing communication and leadership training to a worldwide audience) has prepared me for over a decade with unique experiences, interactions and lifetime knowledge, skills and abilities … for what I offer. However, the personal and professional endeavors that have shaped me have given me a unique insight unlike others, especially being diagnosed late in life with autism. This neurodivergence that I am exploring in me has allowed unlimited opportunities to share with clients to help them fine-tune their ÔÇ£voiceÔÇØ that they have, and to maximize the best versions of themselves and their businesses in meaningful ways.

Q: What does your business sell or provide?

A: Your Speaking Voice LLC provides coaching and consulting services in a variety of different areas. Whether it is about life, professional development (i.e. career change or areas where guidance is needed), business (whether corporate, nonprofit or small business needing help with all phases of business development), or public speaking for a variety of different delivery methods. Additionally, we customize any type of event and/or workshop for small, medium or large audiences based on what your objectives are and available for speaking engagements. We also provide resume review/writing services, along with interview preparation for any type of interview stage situation (i.e. second interviews, virtual interviews, etc.).

Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now? 

A: The coaching industry is often stigmatized as being ÔÇ£highly expensiveÔÇØ or that ÔÇ£anyone can start a coaching business.” However, it takes a special kind of relationship to understand and interact with a coach that is a good fit to what you are specifically seeking. A conversation with a coach especially can open up new avenues, ideas and opportunities that would of otherwise not have been thought about and be customized based on a clientÔÇÖs budget to be affordable. Never be afraid to seek help; you may be surprised how much of a positive experience it can be to learn something new and create new habits that are more sustainable in nature, all while being held accountable for them.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?

A: Being raised in a rural community growing up, my passion has always been about being with nature and exploring the vast opportunities that are available for embracing rural-based activities. I enjoy Cumberland County for its vast network of state and local parks, in addition to having part of the Appalachian Trail connect. You will find me on some nature trail, regardless of the time of year, because of the vast scenery and beauty that is available.
