The week started off with a busy schedule for many as they adjusted to the end of summer and transitioned back to work mode. Despite the change, the summer vibes lingered for some with white pants still making appearances.

The torrential rain on Wednesday led to several instances of flooding, including on the town’s roadways. While my own home was not directly affected, some unexpected issues arose.

One of the surprises came in the form of a faulty furnace that resulted in no hot water. It turned out that the furnace had sucked up water from a flooded window well, causing damage to the system. Thankfully, the issue was resolved by a repairman who drained the water, cleaned out mulch, and replaced the motherboard. The repairs were completed just in time for the weekend, ensuring a warm shower and relief from the unexpected inconvenience.

Located at 46 South Main Street, near Fleming’s in Blue Back Square, Boqueria is set to open its doors in October. The interior is already complete, and the team has been actively hiring front and back-of-house staff.

Finally, it is with deep sadness that we mourn the sudden passing of Marty Kenny. Although he did not reside in West Hartford, his work had a significant impact on the town and surrounding areas. As the founder of Lexington Partners, Kenny played a key role in the redevelopment of the Sisters of St. Jospeh property into One Park, a 292-unit complex. His legacy will continue through his sons Patrick and Kevin, who have joined the business.

In other news, Sweetspot, West Hartford’s second cannabis retailer, is undergoing renovations in the former Caribe space. The build-out is in progress, and patrons can expect a new and exciting cannabis experience.
