In downtown Elkins, a new salon has recently opened its doors with the goal of providing a unique and artistic style to customers in the local area. Top Knot Salon, located at 914 South Davis Ave., officially began operating on Wednesday. The staff consists of three talented individuals, including co-owners and cosmetologists Carlie Geiser and Mika Owens, as well as nail technician Logan Ryan.

Carlie Geiser expressed their commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest trends in the industry, stating, “One of the biggest things for us is staying up-to-date on all the trends. We wanted to bring something to the Elkins area that is a little more edgy and artistic.” The salon aims to showcase their creativity through a variety of services.

They offer a wide range of hair and color services, including haircuts, perms, updos, and formal styling. Nail services such as manicures, pedicures, acrylics, gels, and dips are available, along with waxing, Brazilian blowouts, and conditioning treatments. With a total of 20 years of combined experience, Carlie Geiser and Mika Owens bring their expertise to the local community through their own salon.

To celebrate their opening, Top Knot Salon is offering free back-to-school haircuts on Monday, August 14 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, a grand opening event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Carlie Geiser, one of the co-owners, graduated with honors from The Temple: A Paul Mitchell Partner School in Frederick, Maryland in 2012. She gained extensive experience working in the Maryland and Virginia area before deciding to bring her skills back to her hometown of Elkins. Furthermore, she became a national color and cutting educator with Scruples. Notably, Carlie Geiser acquired her first salon, Elevate 180 Salon, at the age of 23, and after four years, decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business. She then worked at SmartStyle Buckhannon and Hair Graphics before opening Top Knot Salon.

Mika Owens, another co-owner, graduated from the Clarksburg Beauty Academy in 2014. During her six-year tenure at Elkins SmartStyle, she developed a reputation as a talented stylist who truly cares about her clients. Mika specializes in color-related services and excels in men’s and boy’s fades and haircuts. She remains committed to continuous education in the beauty industry. Mika and her husband, Jeremiah, have three children: Jayda, Keegan, and Maverick.

As for Logan Ryan, the nail technician at Top Knot Salon, she completed her education at the Clarksburg Beauty Academy in 2014. Her passion for nails led her to choose this career path. She specializes in acrylics, gel manicures, dip powder, and pedicures. Logan is also the proud parent of a daughter named Tinsley, and her partner, Tyler, serves as a firefighter for the City of Elkins and a Randolph County EMT.
