****** just grabbed a
This is legit a good deal. I’m glad things are beginning to improve on the cell phone front to Canada. Prices don’t seem quite as obscene as they used to be.
Still plenty to go until we catch up to Europe or Asia but baby steps.
Thanks just ÔÇ£upgradedÔÇØ from $39/mo for 20 GB 4G speeds to 20 GB 5G unlimited for $5 less lmao.
For anyone else doing the same make sure you pick the ÔÇ£change on renewalÔÇØ button instead of changing right away.
“reduced speeds” is provider-talk for “unusably slow”, though, isn’t it?
it’s not unlimited if there is a limit!
No wifi calling and roaming last time I checked?
I moved to Canada in 2021 and IÔÇÖve been with Public since then. One thing I keep asking is whatÔÇÖs the catch? It honestly is too good to be true and I pay a ridiculously lower amount than what some people I know pay. And if thereÔÇÖs no catch, why arenÔÇÖt more people using Public? I havenÔÇÖt met a single person who uses Public and itÔÇÖs honestly baffling to me
Yeah Public Mobile isn’t bad(it’s just Telus) but in 2023 with Fido/Lucky Mobile etc offering 20-30GB + talk + text at around $40 it’s just not as competitive as it once was when it first launched. The phone plan landscape these days is pretty competitive.
I see competitive prices too. Good to hear. I got 120g unli reduced speed after 120g $55 fr Bell.
Thanks for sharing, this is better than the 45 for 5 I have with Koodo. I never use even 10.
Yeah, mobile plan pricing is getting a lot better in Canada it seems.
I recently switched to a freedom mobile plan that is $45 for 30GB of 5G data. Now I’m just waiting for a black friday deal to upgrade my iphone 12 mini.
Is it a deal or is it just full price? Like their normal price for them ?
Koodo has 100gigs of data unlimited can/us call/text for 60$ rn
Edit itÔÇÖs at 5g speed up to 250mbps I believe it said
There will be better deals from all the carriers in a few weeks. $34 for 20GB is just the pre-Black Friday bait.
I’ll stick to my $10.08/month with 300mb of 3g data for a while longer. I’ve adapted to it and really like the price 🙂
HowÔÇÖs the reception tho?
Is it 20GB data per month or annual?
I need about 90 gigs because of high personal usage and I also got approved to hotspot my work device from my cell phone. The landlord-provided internet which is built into my rent isn’t strong enough (maybe because other tenants use it a lot), and it was cheaper for me to increase my mobile data plan than to get rogers to come out and install it anything in my unit.
Anyone know good deals for really high data usage like that for mobile phones? Plus unlimited talk and text in Canada of course. I don’t need anything for roaming.
Sounds enticing. I’m currently on their $25 1GB 3G plan with their old loyalty program (not the Public Points). Anyone know if you can stay with the legacy loyalty program and switch to one of these new plans?
Does the reduced speed apply to all plans? Like once you use up the plan data amount and the plan speed do they all reduce to the lower speed?
[deleted]
It really shouldn’t be called unlimited imo. It’s a 20gb plan. Once you run out of that you can send messages, that’s about it.

If your car breaks down, make sure it does it in a city
How is the reception of Public Mobile in southern Ontario? I like to travel a lot from Sudbury to Windsor to Ottawa. Do I have a cellular signal throughout?
Lol I just changed from a $40 15GB 4G to $45 50GB 5G. Guess I’m changing again.
Thanks! I rarely check the updated prices and they stopped texting them out.
Switched from the 15gb (4g) for 40$ to 20gb (5g) for 34$. ~6$ off my bill sounds good to me.
It’s nice they seem to let you keep the old rewards program too. Next year I’ll hit my 8$/mtg discount.
Wow I got 30gb for $35 with Rogers as promotion with Skip the dishes. Cool to see other carriers get 5G for low price
