Rebuilding After Devastating Fire in Oxford, PA

OXFORD, Pa. (CBS) — A small community in Chester County is working on rebuilding after a devastating fire ruined several buildings in September. The fire left a large pile of rubble and debris, destroying a historic downtown area and numerous businesses, including The Maroon Hornet Comics & Collectibles, owned by Laura and Randy Grace.

“We finally got the shop where we wanted it right before it happened,” Randy Grace said. “So it’s hard, it’s hard to see it but we’ll get there again.”

Less than two months later and with the help of the community, the Graces have found a new home for their collectibles and superhero memorabilia just down the street. Although most of their inventory was destroyed, they were thankful that a life-sized Spiderman statue was recovered by firefighters.

The fire not only impacted small businesses but also the residents of the area. Out of the 24 families that lost their homes, only one is still in need of a home. The Neighborhood Services Center has been instrumental in providing support and assistance to those affected by the fire.
