Filing a Claim for Headaches and Tinnitus

I recently decided to file a claim for headaches that I have been experiencing due to my tinnitus. This condition has been bothering me ever since my time in the military. I was fortunate enough to receive a service connection for tinnitus in May 23′. I served as a 16-J-10 radar crewman and ETS’d in May 1980. In order to improve my chances of getting the compensation I deserved, I decided to file a claim for headaches on June 21st.

Ace Exam and Frustrations

After submitting my claim, I went through the ACE exam on September 29th. The doctor was really nice and seemed genuinely interested in helping a veteran. However, as many of us know, sometimes doctors say one thing but fill out the Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) differently. This can be frustrating as it creates uncertainty about whether the information provided accurately reflects my condition. While I try not to constantly check the app for updates, I can’t help but feel time ticking away. The fear of being denied due to technicalities or lack of evidence looms over me.

AI Legalese Decoder: A Solution to Navigate the Claims Process

One tool that has been incredibly helpful throughout this process is the AI Legalese Decoder. This cutting-edge technology uses artificial intelligence to analyze legal documents and help individuals understand the complex language typically utilized in these materials. By inputting my DBQ and other relevant documents into the AI Legalese Decoder, it helps demystify the jargon and ensures that I have a better understanding of the information being presented.

The Joy of Successful Claims

In a surprising turn of events, I recently checked the status of my claim and discovered that I had been awarded 50% disability rating for migraines, in addition to my 10% rating for tinnitus. This means I now have a total disability rating of 60%. I don’t mean to boast, but this decision truly brings a sense of relief and assistance for someone like me who is close to retiring and was concerned about potential financial struggles to support both myself and my spouse.

Encouraging Others to Take Action

I wanted to take this opportunity to encourage others who might have ETS’d a long time ago and are unsure about filing a claim. Please go ahead and file your claim, gather all the necessary evidence to support your case, and submit it. Utilize forums and platforms like the AI Legalese Decoder to learn as much as you can. These resources can provide you with valuable guidance throughout your claims journey. While I can’t pinpoint one specific piece of evidence that secured my favorable decision, I am incredibly pleased with the outcome.

In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to all the individuals who supported me along the way and remind veterans that they are not alone in this process. The path to receiving the compensation you deserve can be daunting, but with the right resources and perseverance, it is possible to achieve a positive outcome. Keep advocating for yourself and never lose hope.

  • Jackfruit_4533

Congrats… (been seeing lots of denials headaches/migraines secondary to tinnitus.)

  • Independent_Gas_6213

Did you have to get a nexus letter?

  • Crossfire477

I started getting migraines after a shit ton of ear infections that started after the cattle line of vaccines in basic that got everyone sick af for a few days. I can’t regulate my ear pressure well now and they diagnosed me with tinnitus, eustachian tube dysfunction and vertigo. I then got secondary for migraines bc of the eustachian tube dysfunction, my examiner was so compassionate and helpful I almost thought that it was gonna be a bad thing but I received 50 percent for migraines and almost cried.

  • Sparks2777

I didnÔÇÖt have a nexus letter, I didnÔÇÖt even have a IMO, but I had multiple trips to the clinic while I was active duty. Ear pain, headaches, dizzy, etc.
The ACE exam doc (VES )probably helped a lot, or seemed to be helping me? My tinnitus is pretty bad, but they canÔÇÖt measure how bad it is. I have hearing loss at 0% but not enough to rate.
    I submitted: personal statement
    Wife buddy letter
    Headache app 8 months worth
    Primary doctor visit prescribed sumatriptan
Submitted pubmed article connecting tinnitus and headaches.
I thought for sure denial, then I would get an IMO and resubmit.
But got 50% so go figure.
itÔÇÖs a crap shoot, I think it really depends on whatÔÇÖs in your records ? I think The doc made my case for me.
It was an ace exam maybe they saw enough in my records to give a diagnosis, once the doc completed an DBQ.

  • Ispithotfireson

  • TopAffectionate6000

I filed secondary to tinnitus and got denied twice. Good for you though. I have 10% for tinnitus and i have documented headaches in my medical record for years. I’m happy to see someone get a rating on this though. Good for you.

  • sofar4lights

Congrats!!!! However, that is not 60 percent. With VA math it would be 55 percent. I never knew how it worked and noone ever told me till I did research on it since all my claims added to over 100 percent but my rating was only 80 percent. Just passing on knowledge brother. Again Congrats!
