A Harrowing Experience: Assaulted by a Former Girlfriend

The Incident

I was assaulted by my girlfriend of the past in a liquor store parking lot yesterday. The situation escalated quickly, and before I knew it, we were in a heated argument. She became aggressive, throwing her belongings out the window, and I tried to intervene. The police arrived, and one of the things she threw was her phone, which sent a crash detection alert. This means there is a record of the incident, which occurred an hour before we stopped at the liquor store.

The Background

To understand the situation, it’s essential to know that my girlfriend has a severe alcohol problem. I had finally admitted to her that I had kissed her best friend, which sent her into a rage. She repeatedly punched me in the face, and I sat there, numb, taking the blows. She then wanted to go to her best friend’s house to confront her, and during the drive, she continued to hit me.

The Confrontation at the Best Friend’s House

We arrived at the best friend’s house, and she denied any wrongdoing. However, she then jumped into my car and began beating me again. I didn’t fight back, and she ripped out the center console of my car, throwing items everywhere. I waited until they were both away, then sped off, not before my shirt was torn off.

Gathering Evidence

I have collected some evidence so far, which includes:

  • Pictures of my injuries (24 or so)
  • Missed calls from the best friend’s address
  • A voicemail from them, stating they have the ripped center console
  • CCTV footage from the liquor store parking lot
  • Ring camera footage from the best friend’s house
  • A bagged ripped shirt, which may contain DNA evidence

Fear and Uncertainty

I’m terrified to come forward with the evidence, as I’m not sure if it’s enough to prove my case. The local police have a rap sheet on the best friend, and there are children involved on both sides. I’m aware of how the legal system often favors women, and I fear that if I don’t present my case correctly, I’ll be in danger.

If courts are closed, police can issue a temporary restraining order. Get it documented in court and press charges. If she violates the restraining order by entering the proximity, call 911 immediately. You have the right to feel safe.

If police took her in, charges will be up to the DA, based on the police report.

Honestly, if I were you I’d take it on the chin and move on man. You’re paying the price here for a string of bad decisions.

Hey man as dude who sat through my EXs physical assault on me and didn’t press charges I’m ngl I regret it because it’s made her feel bold enough to get more and more aggressive until the police got involved I still didn’t press charges and she’s not gone quite as crazy physically when she sees me but continuously gets in my face and screams. I get anxiety when I’m around places I know she frequents tbh.

Go to the store get the camera proof and talk to the police. Worst comes to worst they try to flip it on you but you have the liquor stores evidence backing you up and they have zero proof. For your own mental health at least get a restraining order on both of them
