## Concerns about Returned Money from a House Purchase

I am simply curious about a recent email I received regarding a small balance refund from a previous house purchase. The email states that £20 is due to be returned to me, which originated from the leftover funds after purchasing a house with my partner over three years ago. However, the email also mentions that I would need to pay £24 to facilitate the transfer of the money back to me. This fee makes the refund seem insignificant and not worth pursuing.

It is puzzling to me why there would be a charge to return money that originally belonged to me. If the money was never utilized by the recipient and simply sat in their accounts, shouldn’t I be entitled to receive it back without incurring any additional fees? While I am not particularly concerned about the amount itself, this situation raises interesting questions about the timing of the refund request after three years.

AI Legalese Decoder can help in this situation by analyzing the terms and conditions of the initial transaction and the subsequent communication for any legal loopholes or clauses that may shed light on the legitimacy of the refund process. By decoding the legal jargon present in the communication, AI Legalese Decoder can provide insights into whether the request for a fee to return the money aligns with legal regulations or if there are grounds for challenging the fee. This tool can offer clarity and guidance in understanding the legal aspects of the situation.

NAL but I am fairly sure there are strict accounting rules for solicitors and them holding money like that long term isn’t allowed.

Also there is no way that it costs £24 to go on to their online banking and transfer £20.

Politely but firmly tell them to transfer the £20 and stop F’ing about.

Just ask for a BACS transfer. It’ll take 3 to 5 working days as opposed to CHAPS which is same day.
BACS is free. CHAPS is not.
