## Situation Overview

In summary, I want to clarify that I am not involved in any fraudulent activities, and I am claiming Personal Independence Payment (PiP) on behalf of my son. Recently, a letter concerning his PiP was mistakenly sent to my workplace instead of my home address. This deviation from the usual delivery method has caused distress and embarrassment, as my employer was not pleased with the situation.

## Extended Description

I would like to provide more context to the situation to ensure clarity. Typically, any correspondence from the relevant authorities regarding PiP benefits has always been directed to my home address. The sudden change in delivery location has raised concerns and confusion, leading to unwanted attention at my workplace. > what action I can take?

You can contact DWP, let them know what has happened, why you are upset about it, and ask them to direct all future correspondence to your home address.

    What letter did they send?

As you’ve not mentioned the content of the letter, just that it was related to a claim then it’s difficult to comment.

If it’s related to an overpayment that they intend to reclaim then contacting your employer is entirely normal.

If it was a request for information from your employer, then this is entirely normal.

If it’s a standard letter intended for you then it’s an admin error on their side that needs to be correct.

You could pursue it as a GDPR breach if you feel the DWP has revealed information they shouldn’t have.

How did PIP even have your workplace address ? This is very odd

  • maryocall

You can’t claim PIP on someone’s behalf, so you must be the appointee- which means you’re in charge of the administrative side of the claim (i.e. doing the letters and the phone calls etc). If the DWP are sending letters to your place of work instead of your home address, you need to call them and make sure they have your correct home address on the system. I would also raise a complaint about data privacy as they shouldn’t be sending letters of that nature (which will undoubtedly have your sons private details such as his NI number) anywhere but the address on the claim

NAL. Surely the more important questions are:

Why is your boss opening mail that has been addressed to you?

What grounds does your boss have to be unhappy about you claiming PIP for your son if he is entitled to it?

Your question includes a possible reference to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) or phrases associated commonly with benefits. It may be more suitable for you to ask your question on /r/DWPhelp.
