WWDC 2024 was a big event, and it was always meant to be. I spoke to a lot of people during the developer conference, and unanimously, the announcement of Apple’s AI Intelligence platform was perhaps the biggest news. Math Notes

I’m excited and surprised—over and over—to see “Math Notes” on the iPad, where users can write down a math problem with the Apple Pencil and the app solves it immediately. It feels like magic, and it’s the best showcase of what artificial intelligence can possibly do. Essentially, you can write out math problems (e.g., 2×2=4), and when you draw an equals sign, it will calculate the answer. The best part is that it shows the results in your handwriting. In fact, it can work across a range of functions. Math Notes introduces new ways of teaching math with visuals—and no, it doesn’t replace a math teacher. Look out for a detailed hands-on look at how Math Notes works soon.
