### Applying for Disability Twice for Different Reasons

I recently applied for disability for a totally different reason than what I applied for in 2001. In 2001, I suffered brain damage and was in a coma. At that time, I believed I was denied because I was under the age of 21 and hadn’t paid in enough. The decision was based off my deceased mother’s record. However, I never followed up on this and continued living my life for the past 20 years.

Recently, I applied for disability again and requested my decision letter. Upon receiving it, I am unsure whether I have qualified for the benefits this time. I appreciate any answers or advice on this matter.

    I dont think so.

It takes 40 work credits someone said I believe.

From july 2001 to july 2001 that is not a range. And no amount.

I see why you would ask that.

    Id call em.

If you became disabled before the age of 22, you do not need work credits as you can qualify off your deceased parents benefits and collect 75% of their benefit. 40 work credits are needed for retirement. The number and recency of work credits depends on the age someone becomes disabled. You may want to look into it more. If you were denied, they would not have calculated current benefits.
