Sounds useful but wondering if someone has presence of mind to do this would they have presence of mind to disregard all the warning messages?
It did the round when first launched (e.g. [https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/10/martin-lewis–if-you-need-to-call-your-bank-you-can-just-dial-15/](https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/10/martin-lewis–if-you-need-to-call-your-bank-you-can-just-dial-15/) ), but haven’t heard much about it since (their website claims they have handled 400,000 calls – if that is up to date then it is a dismally small number considering the service has been live for 2.5 years).
TBH I don’t see the point – if you have the presence of mind to hang up and call your bank back, then it is easy enough to find a trusted phone number for your bank. Every credit or debit card I have has a phone number printed on it; there will be contact details in the app; or just google it. As far as I can tell, 159 does nothing other than forward you onto your bank’s official customer service number – it offers no greater protection or functionality than just dialling that number yourself.

Oddly, I got a text from my bank yesterday saying they were withholding a payment and advising me to call 159 – first I’d heard of it too.
