If the account isn’t closed, withdraw the funds and then call your LOCAL office not the 800 number, and have them change the dd/payment method. They poetically l likely already are sitting on the assistance request, unassigned, unseen yet. The 800# is infuriatingly useless and does not make these changes(and when they do it always ends up being connected to fraud). All they do is send an assistance request to your local office asking them to “develope” and update if legitimate request. Your local office can make the change happen sooner if they do the extra work, otherwise technically, the change is too late in the month to update for March and would be effective April. Not May. Don’t mean to rant but if anything with the agency needs immediate attention its the havoc and issues the 800# causes.
