****** just grabbed a
To clarify, this is only for those who are medically retired with under 20 years of service and have a disability or disabilities that are combat related as designated by the DoD.
Currently these Veterans are eligible for CRSC, which you have to apply through your service department to receive a portion of your retirement. This bill would make them eligible their full retirement pay.
Been hoping this passes for several years now. Would be life changing.
I have contacted my Congress man and he will support the combat veterans who were medically discharged from war injuries and forced to retire with less than 20 years of service. We deserve better retirement !!
Now if we could only get Congress to pass a law that requires ALL bills be a one item bill.
So they would solely vote on one issue at a time, that way, good bills like this would not be voted down because our elected representatives did not like something in the bill whether it was a funding issue, amendment issue, political line issue, etc etc.
If a one item law was ever passed, the voters could actually see exactly how our elected representatives are voting. Instead the current way is to have a bill thousands of pages long and each representative finds something about current bills they do not like and vote against it, then the media spins it to make it look like one side of the aisle does not like a certain issue!
I’m not going to put all that effort in until it’s clearly defined whether the pay will be calculated based on VA waiver amount, or longevity cap
Its been an issue since this idea’s inception, and the answer is commonly “get it passed first”
That’s not an acceptable answer
Just curious, does this apply to veterans who have service-connected disabilities and were medically retired before 20 years, or only those veterans that have a specific combat-related injury documented?
This was pushed aside for the Pact Act, simply because Pact affects more vets. I’m medically retired w/40% DOD rating. I already have full retirement benefits and my CRSC is rated at 60%…I’d rather have the tax free CRSC pay than taxed CRDP.
Lol it’s not going to happen. And if it does it’s just going to screw the veterans who need it somehow. Probably go off years of active duty service to screw over the guard and reserve. Just like CRSC does. Then also throw in some sort of VA review for the retired active to lower their VA. Either way just tired of hearing about it and not seeing people go after Congress and Senate.
So, hypothetically, what were to happen if you just decided not to re-up your contract because you didn’t feel like you were medically fit any longer? Is this something that can be transactionally post-dated?
