### Update on Disability Rating

Earlier this month, I received the exciting news that my disability rating had increased from 30% to 90%. While there are still a few items that are deferred, I am currently sitting at 88%, which effectively rounds up to 90%. This boost in rating has brought me much closer to reaching 100%.

#### Assistance from the VSO

Yesterday, a new Veterans Service Officer (VSO) reached out to me and informed me that the remaining deferred items were being finalized. One of these items, my Asthma condition, has now been deemed service-connected at 30%. This adjustment has propelled my rating to 93%, with only four deferred items left to address. The VSO assured me that there is a deadline in place for these final decisions, set for the end of the month.

You have an awesome VSO! Sending good vibes.

  • CricketGrouchy52

Yes! VSO’s can see more than we can, they can read DBQs and see internal stuff. Mine said he we would be able to see my rating a week before me but that he legally wasn’t suppose to tell me my ratings.

  • Sparks2777

My VSO helped me send in my first claim last year, then I have to ask or push for everything after that.

i know he gets my claim letters, but he has never called me to give me news or anything. I did my own migraine sec to tinnitus claim, and he never even called when it was approved! even tho he is listed as my rep. I don’t really use him anymore

  • sleepinglucid

    Yes, why wouldn’t they?

  • Wind_is_next

Just don’t count your chickens before they are hatched.
I had a similar experience, first a phone call then later a letter from the DAV saying they expect me to get 100%. 3 days later I got my 80% letter from the VA. Called the DAV and they said they had made an error when they reached out to me.

But congrats on finding a good VSO! Sounds like they are helping you get what you deserve.

Nice! Only the good ones keep you informed! Best of luck

Depends on if they have access to VBMS, the internal “record keeping” software used by VBA to track claims. My director is awesome, so he insisted that I and the other VSO’s in my agency got access to VBMS, which I can tell you is a pain in the balls. But the long and short of it is; I can look at your entire claim file. I can see every piece of correspondence that has gone back and forth between you and VA, I can see the DBQs filled out by your C&P examiner, I can see (with a much higher degree of accuracy than VA.gov) where in the pipeline your claim is. In addition to other neat stuff.

So, sounds like you have a killer VSO. I wish I wasn’t so busy that I could proactively give my clients heads up on where their claims are at. Sadly, it’s me, the director, and one other accredited service officer for my whole county which has 16,000+ vets, who all want to file for benefits. Work gets stressful at times lol.

    That’s awesome!

  • B8ZS7

VSO called you? And with an update? I can’t get my VSO to return my calls or emails, ever. I leave emails and voice messages and he NEVER returns even a single one.

  • Creative_Major2266

My VSO didn’t even call me on my birthday, and we share the SAME birthday!!

So you winning in the VSO dept!!

    GOOD LUCK!

  • Clean_Ad_6068

    Who did you use?

  • MostDefInept

Shit my VSO is an attorney on my appeal and doesn’t tell me anything. She’s on her 70th vacation for the year.

  • Massive_Worldliness7

Be glad, I can’t get a response from my VSO. But can’t get any response from the VFW who assigned me to his caseload

  • jaayy_tapps

    When did you file?

  • Hot-Entry1006

Picture the shark vacuum cleaner and show the latches holding in the trash Ben. It’s full of trash

  • Blackant71

I sent in my original claims by myself. Took a while and had no answers, so I got a VSO last November. Haven’t heard from him after my 1st visit, so I’ve continued to do myself.

  • scdawg12345

My local VSO is shit, I had to submit all my claims myself, currently at 50 percent, just submitted 4 more claims, C/Ps completed, DBQs have been done, now playing the waiting game..

  • Jake-Brakes-Are-Loud

How does one get in contact with a VSO? I’ve seen them referred to a lot in the subreddit and I think one would be really helpful with my claim that has been going on for almost a year.

  • mikeforchange

My VSO submitted my intent to file two weeks after my meeting with him and never submitted my paperwork! I ended up doing my own submissions and finished my 2nd c&p last Friday. The C&p examiner (a VA Dr ) told me that he is linking my right knee arthritis, bilateral hip arthritis and my lumbar spine arthritis to my left knee service connected replacement (x-rays confirm post surgical misalignment) which has changed my walking gait. He’s even adding my 9.5 inch surgical scar on my left knee! I just hope the RO follows the examiners recs.
