## Cindy Gaboury: From Teacher to Successful Business Owner

Cindy Gaboury’s journey from being a teacher to becoming a successful business owner is nothing short of inspiring. Born into an Air Force family in North Carolina, Cindy moved around frequently during her childhood, living in 16 different houses before the age of 18. In 1977, her father was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, where Cindy eventually settled.

In 2002, they relocated their business from a 3,000 square foot store to a 17,000 square foot building in Centerville, Ohio. The new space included a lifestyle showroom, allowing customers to experience complete audio systems firsthand.

However, their success didn’t stop there. The couple realized the importance of giving back to their community. In 2011, they began providing free meeting space to local nonprofits in their building, called “The Community Room @Audio Etc.” They also donated money, electronics, and accessories to support numerous nonprofit fundraisers. Additionally, Cindy and Kirby owned the only mobile theater in the nation, which they not only rented out but also made available for silent and live auctions.

Their commercial work included collaborations with Ohio’s Hospice, the Dayton Food Bank, and the Dayton Dragons baseball team, for whom they became the official AV company. Cindy even started mentoring at-risk young men through the Victory Project, helping them develop professional skills and find employment opportunities.

Today, Cindy and Kirby have two children. Their son, Sean, is the lead programmer for Audio Etc., while their daughter, Heather, works as a senior designer in Columbus. Cindy’s achievements have earned her numerous awards and recognition, but she considers being named one of the top 500 influential executives in Ohio as one of her proudest moments. To her, being influential means giving back and making a positive impact on others’ lives.
