    Yes.
You’re not buying the game, you’re leasing it essentially.
It’s in the T&Cs of most major platforms.

  • Phonereader23

They gave you a license, you didn’t actually claim ownership of a product, you were just given access to it.

Ubisoft is under fire for recent comments about exactly this practice as well as Sony for movie content that was purchased being removed as these companies can yank licenses whenever they like.

  • Ok-Motor18523

Yes. You agreed to it when you signed up.

  • YepWrongGuy

I mean, it was free so the best you can expect is a refund of the purchase price or a store credit…. which was $0 right?

If the game was banned, is under review or refused classification then they are legally obligated to remove access if instructed.

Any reason you didn’t share the game name? I mean if it’s adult content, gore or contains certain themes they risk fines by keeping it on catalogue in Australia.

It’s called “undisturbed possession of the goods” under Australian Consumer Law, BUT this doesn’t apply for goods that are hired or leased. Source -> https://www.accc.gov.au/about-us/publications/consumer-guarantees-a-guide-for-consumers

Sounds like the game was only ever freely leased to you, instead of you owning it outright like a physical purchase. Although, that calls into question the legality of how something can be leased without a payment.
