# Seeking Clarification on VA Claim Denial

Before a bunch of people on here lose their sh*t because I didn’t do my own research, I want to be clear that I’m seeking clarification because I’ve been told different things by my VSO, the 1-800 VA # and reading through comments and knowledge base on here.

## Questioning VA Claim Denial: Seeking Clarity

Question: I was denied 2018 sinusitis claim due to no service connection. I served in desert and believe under PACT Act I will now qualify. I submitted intent to file Aug 2023. If approved will my back pay be for 2018 or Aug 2022? VSO office is adamant it will be to 2018 and others on this forum have made similar comments. 1800 # said Aug 2022.

It should go back to August 2022 when the Pact Act was signed into law

If you seek multiple answers to the same question, you’re sure to find it… Is that a Yogi’ism?

You seem to have your answer here. It’s August 2022, but it could be 2018. Seriously, it could be 2018 but there are certain things that need to happen for that to be possible. The likelihood of that is low although not zero. It’s August 2022.

Furthermore, I believe we were taught in the military to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Preparing for the worst is denial. Hoping for the best is 2018. I would recommend adhering to this approach. August 2022 is the correct answer if you’re not denied. Good luck!
