    No, not normal.

    Directors owe certain ‘fiduciary obligations’ to the company, and may be held personally liable for breaching those duties. For example, a director is forbidden from leveraging their position to make a profit or holding interests (eg., in property) that conflicts with those of the company. Even if you make a profit for both yourself and the company, you will be liable unless you’ve received ’fully informed consent’ from the company. So being a director is a big responsibility, which I wouldn’t accept without: (1) adequate compensation; (2) adequate understanding of the legal implications of the role; and (3) adequate (ie, detailed) explanation of the general and particular expectations of the role.

    I would not agree and ask to remove. Within our company, our senior execs take turns of being Directors when their term is up. Mainly for legal and financial and signatory responsibilities.

    I.e: on account applications, they may ask for personal director details who can be linked as guarantors also if needed.
    We as a business always cross these out but vendors can be persistent.
