****** just grabbed a
First off, I want to say thank you for posting this. It was brave of you to say how you truly feel. I don’t know the whole situation nor do I want to know. I know it’ll be challenging for you to “face” your ex with your son. I applaud you for wanting your son to have a relationship with his father. It’s ok for you to set up boundaries. Not everybody wants to deal with our issues and our mistakes, which is completely ok.

No need to feel bad dude. Do what YOU have to do to survive and thrive. Two kids is definitely rough in this economy. You’ll get through this. Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders. My advice would be to get stable and get a good job. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful.
How to cope?……move on.
My girl of 25+ years, left me in prison. I served 3 years. In those 3 years, she went from, I love you and will be here for you. To marrying another man. I can still hear…..I don’t love you anymore, and don’t want to be with you when you get out. She trashed our house and cleaned me out of money ($30k). Sold 2 of my cars. And her parents sold all of my farm machinery from their property. And her brother sold most of my model trains. I got out and was pissed at everyone. I rebuilt my life in the last 5 years. I also realized I put myself in this position. Taking accountability for my actions, has helped me move on. I hope your soon to be ex can get to the same point as me. Acceptance. Good luck.
The situation you are in sucks. I think you have gotten some good advice already, but you asked how you cope with it. In addition to what others have said, find a therapist you work well with. Mine is worth his weight in gold. He supports whatever decision I make, but he asks questions to get me thinking about why I’m making those decisions and if they are the right choice for me. It helps a lot. I have a good support group of friends, but having someone trained makes a difference.
Aside from that, do what you need to do to take care of yourself. I know when mine got arrested, I was pissed. I needed some me time. Even if it was short, I did what I could to take it. Sometimes, it was a bath. Or going to the river (I wanted ocean but that was too far, so the river sufficed). One day, when no one else was at the river, I had my own little 15-minute dance party to just shake it out. It felt silly, but I needed to move and turned on my Bluetooth, cranked a couple of songs that fit my mood, and felt better afterward. I know that with having kids, it can be hard to escape for you time, but even if it’s just five minutes, give yourself that.
first you have to think about your kids and secondly yourself. i dont know what csc stands for but chances are, and correct me if im wrong, he will not be able to live with minor children anyway and that visitations will be supervised.
good luck
IÔÇÖve left mine too. I turned him in originally. I was all about supporting him and trying to make it work but since letting go and deciding to protect my family (four kids, two shared with him) from future lies and abuse, IÔÇÖve felt much better.
IÔÇÖll be gaining full custody of our children and will allow for supervised visitation after he is released, whenever that is.
The investigation isnÔÇÖt even over.
I just canÔÇÖt be a mother of three boys and a daughter that teaches my children that that sort of decision is forgivable.
I wish him the best but thereÔÇÖs no going back for us. ÔÖÑ´©Å hang in there.
I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all this. You don’t need to feel guilty about making the choice that you did. Everyone should do what’s best for them. Ultimately, the choices that he made are going to make his life harder in ways that are both fair and unfair.
He needs to face the consequences of his actions, that is not on you. I would love to say that you should stick it out but if you can’t forgive him then you can’t force that. Nobody is owed forgiveness and he harmed you with his actions too whether he intended to or not.
Giving him the chance to be a dad is the best anyone can ask of you. Find activities and people that make you happy. Find a new routine without him or thoughts of him. Have people you can reach out to when you miss him.
If moving on would make you happy do it because you deserve to be happy.
Sending you huge huge huge hugs.
Please feel free to message me if you need any kind of advice on single mom struggles. I flew solo most of my kids lives so I learned to get pretty creative.
DonÔÇÖt feel bad about ending things, you were put in an impossible situation, you did what you could, nobody can ask for more than that. Xoxox
What you’re describing are collateral consequences, things that impact both the incarcerated person and those who relied on them for support. Your ex played a role but is not solely responsible for these collateral consequences which are complicated, systemic problems. The state shares some responsibility for choosing a particular path of ‘justice’ that did not consider you or your child’s livelihood. You’re right to be angry, just don’t direct all your anger at him for things he never intended to happen.
There’s no rush to make a decision on the future of the relationship (platonic or otherwise) with him. Just take it day by day.
