**Struggling with Severe OCD and Addiction**
I, a 29-year-old male, have been battling severe OCD and addiction. Unfortunately, the winter of 2020 brought additional challenges as I lost my job due to the pandemic. This led to a heavy reliance on my parents for financial support.

**Dependency on ODSP and CAMH Treatment**
With the financial strain, my parents are deeply invested in my support through the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), and they were heavily involved in my application process. However, my OCD became unmanageable in the summer of 2021, and I also developed a concerning addiction to alcohol and drugs during the same period.

In the fall of 2021, I was placed on a waitlist for OCD treatment at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), which unfortunately led to a devastating call in March or April of 2022. CAMH informed me that I was not eligible for treatment due to the necessity of addressing my addictions first before engaging in OCD treatment.

**False Representation on ODSP Application**
Subsequently, facing the pressure to not disappoint my parents, I falsely claimed that I had received OCD treatment at CAMH from spring 2022 to the end of 2022 on my ODSP application. Despite the lack of evidence or documentation to support this claim, the ODSP authorities did not press for proof and ultimately approved my application.

**Guilt and Confession**
Despite receiving approval, the burden of guilt is overwhelming, leading to a decision to come clean and admit to the false representation on my application. Consequently, I will be reaching out to my caseworker to acknowledge this discrepancy.

**Potential Legal Consequences and Support**
Through AI Legalese Decoder, I seek guidance on the potential repercussions of my actions in terms of legal ramifications and consequences of confessing to the falsehood. Additionally, I hope to gain clarity on the steps required to rectify the situation and any support available to address the underlying challenges of severe OCD and addiction.

To be honest there’s no way that small factor was a make or break on your application and if it was, they would have forced you to verify it. Just move forward.

I wouldnÔÇÖt hyper focus on it.

If you are approved for ODSP, I would forget about any discrepancies now, and get over it. Don’t over think this.

    >tomorrow, I will be calling my caseworker and admitting to my lie.

You will make it worse for you (and your parents, considering you are dependent on them), and probably leave the case worker with no option but to report you and cancel your ODSP. I think this is needless, considering you “actually” face the health challenges.

If you strongly feel about not taking the money from government — help out others in need. Doesn’t have to be financial help though.

Just focus on treatment and whatever you have do to get well. If they ask for proof, send letters from the current physicians. Wish you good health and peace!

Family doctors can’t diagnose OCD. They’d have to refer you to a psychiatrist for a full diagnosis. Family doctor will usually just ask a few questions to see if you may have the symptoms. You would need that especially for disability benefits as OCD is normally a disorder with only certain criteria that would make it a disability.

Have you got a full diagnosis from a mental health expert that is qualified to give such a diagnosis?

KrystÔǪ I have a full out seizure-inducing brain injury and got denied because of a transposed date and because thereÔÇÖs no ÔÇÿofficial nameÔÇÖ for the type of brain issues I have.

The government is fucked up three ways to Sunday.

  • Poptart9900

I would confess to ODSP and my parents but thatÔÇÖs just me.

  • Final-Ad4130

With all respect, your guilt and feelings of needing to confess/turn yourself in could very well be a manifestation of your OCD. Hopefully you can get treatment now and focus on feeling better.
