## AI Legalese Decoder Can Help Resolve Disputes with Charities
I recently found myself in a challenging situation where I had raised funds to partake in an overseas volunteer program with a charity. In exchange for my donation of $2500 and time, the organization was supposed to cover my flight, vaccinations, and provide a stipend for room and board. However, I was unexpectedly informed that my position was revoked, my contract was canceled, and my flight was no longer arranged.
The reason cited for this abrupt decision was my absence from a single training session, despite my efforts to make up for it promptly by watching the recording and completing all assignments. Moreover, the charity terminated my participation less than 18 hours after notifying me of my oversight, demonstrating a lack of willingness to engage in a dialogue about the issue. To make matters worse, they are refusing to refund the money I had worked hard to raise.
The AI Legalese Decoder can be instrumental in navigating this situation by providing a comprehensive analysis of the legal aspects at play. It can help determine if there is a legal recourse available to you and outline potential courses of action to address the unjust termination and refusal to refund your fundraising efforts. It depends on the contract. Look at the terms of the contract you agreed to when you signed up. Does it indicate you must complete training on time and not miss any training sessions?
Of course they won’t refuse the donations. Those donations went to the charity.
Did this happen to you or your daughter? And did you/she miss one session or multiple? NAL but I’ve done similar programs in the past and training/orientation sessions were mandatory. Double-check any agreements you or your daughter signed.
The $2,500 you or your daughter raised are also charitable donations with tax receipts, so I’m not sure I understand why you or your daughter are expecting this money back.
Your details done line up with the comment your provided yesterday on another sub
“I’m interested in the legitimacy of this program. My daughter was “fired” without notice days before departure because she didn’t turn her microphone on in training sessions and answered by chat only. She was unable to attend one day and missed a training session and watched the Zoom and submitted her assignments online instead.
She was “fired” three days before departure, without warning, and wasn’t allowed to state her case or appeal at all. They kept all the money. Now we have 3 months worth of expensive Malaria medication with nothing to do with it. She had already quit her job to go…”

NAL
They probably have the right to fire you. Very shady indeed, but the donation was a donation and almost certainly there was no contract of “if you give x amount we will give you a fellowship”.
You may have recourse if you have text, email, etc, in which they tell you if you provide enough donation they will give you the fellowship, room, etc. but chances are pretty good there was some agreement that gave them a lot if leeway to remove you.
This is IMHO too complex a question for reddit. You’d need to see a lawyer, ask for a consult, and review the documentation. I suspect it would be a difficult case to argue.
Despite your claim this is a legit org, this story follows the same outline as the ‘pay for a remote position’ job scam.
This sounds like a common scam. I don’t think there was any ‘position’ to begin with.

Charge back?
Since the donations were billed as sponsorship I think a valid argument could be made for their return. Exact wording may be important.
Sounds like bribery
