In an effort to promote local shopping during the festive season, John Lamont MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk has announced the Small Business Awards competition. Lamont hopes this competition will encourage more people to shop locally over the Christmas period and support small businesses in the area.

To participate in the competition, anyone can nominate a small business by visiting the dedicated website at www.johnlamont.org/small-business-awards-2023. The nominations will close on November 29. The winners will be announced around Small Business Saturday in early December.

The winners of the Small Business Awards will be chosen by Mr. Lamont based on the number of nominations received. Last year, this contest attracted more than 600 nominations for a wide range of small companies across the Scottish Borders. In the end, six businesses were selected for the awards: WK Hair Design & Beauty in Galashiels, Gordon Arms Bar & Cafe in Gordon, KD Fit in Kelso, R&L Taxis in Selkirk, the Ancrum Pantry in Ancrum, and Think Fitness 4 Less in Hawick.
