Monthly Meeting Recap of Wayne Township Supervisors

WAYNE — Supervisors for Wayne Township met for their regular monthly meeting on June 10. The meeting was attended by Roadmaster Logan Mather, who provided a comprehensive report on the township’s roads and equipment. According to Mather, crews have been diligently mowing grass along the roads and grading Crosscut and Sciota Roads, with plans to brine Crosscut the following day. Additionally, township employees participated in a safety class, enhancing their skills and knowledge.

A concerned resident from Turnpike Road Extension reached out to report a crack in the concrete beneath a nearby bridge. Secretary-treasurer Chris Hornick disclosed that PennDOT has inspected the crack and deemed it to be part of normal wear and tear, assuring that it does not pose a threat to the bridge’s structural integrity.

The board members decided to postpone the review of items in Resolution 24-05, which was sanctioned in January. The resolution outlines a fee schedule for zoning permits and penalties for non-compliance.

A fuel cell is being offered for sale by an individual at $200, significantly lower than the $480 price at Tractor Supply Co. Supervisors expressed interest in the offer but intend to gather more information before making a decision.

Following a recent tire recycling event, supervisors revealed that one semi trailer was left half-full while another was two-thirds full. They underscored the associated fee per trailer and additional charges based on weight.

Supervisors announced the acceptance of gravel bids, meeting PennDOT guidelines, until June 14. The bids will be unveiled at the subsequent meeting.

In a unanimous decision, supervisors agreed to renew the agility agreement with PennDOT for an additional five years, with the provision for a three-year extension thereafter. This agreement, which expires this month, plays a crucial role in maintaining infrastructure.

Another resolution was passed to explore the possibility of withdrawing from the Council of Governments (COG), a collaborative effort between Wayne and Concord townships, along with the city of Corry.

The board will deliberate on potential project options for 2025, with the potential for funding support from a dirt and gravel grant.

During the May 20 meeting, the township renewed its QuickBooks subscription for $625.88, a reduction from $715 in 2023. Additionally, a lock replacement project was completed at a total expenditure of $720.

The upcoming Wayne Township meeting is scheduled for June 24 at 7 p.m. at the municipal building located at 17395 Sciota Road, Corry.
