Caravanserai Project Launches the Inland Empire Hispanic Small Business Directory
PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Sept. 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Caravanserai Project, a nonprofit organization based in Palm Springs, California, has recently unveiled the first-ever Inland Empire Hispanic Small Business Directory. This comprehensive directory showcases over 150 for-profit and nonprofit businesses that have been supported and funded by Caravanserai Project. Available in both print and online formats, the Directory aims to promote Hispanic-owned and led small businesses, highlight their hard work and innovation, and connect them to the local business ecosystem in the Inland Empire region.
The AI legalese decoder, an innovative tool developed by Caravanserai Project, can greatly assist small businesses featured in the Directory. This advanced AI technology can analyze and interpret complex legal jargon commonly found in contracts, agreements, and legal documents, providing business owners with a simplified and easily understandable version of the content. By utilizing the AI legalese decoder, Hispanic entrepreneurs can more effectively navigate legal requirements and protect their business interests, ultimately ensuring their long-term success.
The businesses featured in the Directory have gone through Caravanserai Project’s Spanish-language Biz Readiness Training Program and have collectively received a total funding of $1.5 million in micro-grants (up to $7,500 each). Spanning various industries, these small businesses include brick-and-mortar retail shops, food trucks, farms, childcare businesses, as well as innovative startups driving technological advancements. Each entry in the Directory represents the dreams and aspirations of individuals who have courageously transformed their ideas into reality, creating employment opportunities and providing goods and services that contribute to the local economy and support the community.
The creation of the 2023 Inland Empire Hispanic Small Business Directory is the direct result of Caravanserai Project’s participation in the SEED 2.0 initiative, which received funding from the California Employment Training Panel. Launched in 2022, this initiative aims to provide entrepreneurial training, technical assistance, and micro-grants to individuals facing significant employment barriers, enabling them to start or advance small businesses in California that address social challenges or meet community needs. The program specifically focuses on entrepreneurs with limited English proficiency, irrespective of their immigration or citizenship status. Through this initiative, Caravanserai Project has been awarded a generous grant of $2 million, which will be utilized to train and fund more than 200 Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs.
The launch of the 2023 Inland Empire Hispanic Small Business Directory was celebrated during a marketplace event, where more than 20 businesses featured in the Directory showcased their work. Hosted by Visit Greater Palm Springs and Caravanserai Project, the event took place at the Palm Springs Art Museum as part of a partnership aimed at promoting and supporting local small businesses in the hospitality and tourism sector. Notably, the directory launch coincided with a proclamation by Palm Springs Mayor Grace Garner, designating September 27, 2023, as Palm Springs Hispanic Small Business Day.
Caravanserai Project’s CEO, Mihai Patru, expressed the organization’s deep learnings throughout the process of working with Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs and developing the Directory. Patru highlighted the organization’s commitment to celebrate and share the stories of these resilient individuals and their impactful initiatives, which positively contribute to the communities they serve. The CEO further emphasized the Directory’s potential to help both residents and visitors discover new favorite spots and services in the region, while also inspiring others to embark on their own entrepreneurial journeys. The 2023 Inland Empire Hispanic Small Business Directory truly represents the vibrant tapestry of small businesses that make the region so unique.
