Secondly confirm if this is a recommendation or company policy. If putting your phone in the box is company policy I’d be taking this up with my manager or even their manager as this is wholly unacceptable. I would then tell every other employee and make sure these “boxes” are used by noone. It might come off as a bit of a Karen but they should pay for a new phone.
I empathise as my work to is a federally mandated no phone zone, but we can atleast keep them off in our bags.
