Stuff Group Signs Agreement with Warner Bros Discovery

WELLINGTON (Reuters) – New Zealand media site Stuff Group announced on Tuesday that it had finalized an agreement with Warner Bros Discovery to produce a 6 p.m. daily news programme for Warner Bros Discovery’s New Zealand television channel.

The decision comes after weeks of speculation about the potential for New Zealand to have only one English television news provider.

Warner Bros Discovery, the owner of the news service Newshub that airs on television channel Three, had originally disclosed plans in February to close its newsroom in July as a cost-cutting measure. This move would have left state-owned TVNZ as the primary producer of broadcast news content in the New Zealand market.

With Stuff onboard, starting from July 6, the media group will be responsible for a daily one-hour news show airing Monday to Friday, along with a 30-minute program on weekends.
