## Wilson Comes Home to ATU for Lecture September 20


DeKevious M. Wilson, a graduate of Arkansas Tech University and an Obama Foundation Scholar, will be delivering a speech at ATU on Wednesday, September 20. Originally hailing from West Helena, Wilson earned a Master of Science degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech in 2013. He went on to work as the coordinator of first-year experience and living and learning initiatives at Philander Smith University in Little Rock. Eventually, he became a counselor for the South Side of Chicago’s Youth Guidance’s Becoming A Man (BAM) program. This program serves to promote academic success and reduce violence among boys and young men of color.

Wilson’s dedication and hard work have led to his promotion as the regional manager for the BAM program. In this role, he develops policies that support the young men under his organization’s influence. Additionally, he is currently pursuing a graduate degree at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, with an expected graduation date in 2023.

Despite his busy schedule, Wilson gives back to his home state by serving as the assistant director of staff for Arkansas Boys State. This commitment to his community showcases his passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others.
