Small Business Saturday Draws Hundreds to Downtown Lock Haven

Kids wave excitedly from their parade float, all dressed up as angels and shepherds. The annual Haven Holidays parade drew hundreds to Downtown Lock Haven on Saturday, where they enjoyed great deals on Small Business Saturday.

With sunny skies and just a bit of chill, shoppers could be seen making their way up and down Main Street, stopping into a variety of local businesses to try and check off some gifts from their lists. The day was full of shopping, and for some, a trip to a local restaurant, leading up to the culmination of the evening ÔÇö the annual Haven Holidays parade organized by non-profit Downtown Lock Haven, Inc.

The parade brought together hundreds of people young and old, many sporting Santa hats and other festive gear, to catch a glimpse of decked out fire trucks, vintage vehicles, performances by local marching bands, cheerleaders, and dance groups, and a variety of floats representing various aspects of the holiday season. After the parade, Santa Claus set up shop with two of his reindeer for photos.

Hundreds of families lined the street and braved the cold so their little ones had a chance to sit with Santa and tell him if they were good or not. Some even handed Santa homemade cards and candies. The Haven Holidays parade has always helped kick off the winter holiday season, bringing families together and spreading joy. Seeing the families enjoy watching the parade together and excitedly waiting to get their photos with Santa and his reindeer gives as much joy to the organizers as it does to the families who came out, says DLH Manager Holly Wilson.

But the festivities and good deals didn’t stop this weekend. Local businesses will continue to take part in three more Small Business Saturdays, offering some great deals.
