    If I request ANY medical appointment during working hours I am free to attend. If its a planned appt I can use my accrued sick leave to cover my lost earnings. I don’t even have to use my annual leave.

    I just want to thank everyone who passed these laws. During my pregnancies we did not have such laws and it sucked. I had to beg for time off for appointments and had to pump my milk in my car in the parking lot. Sad to say this was in 2001. I am so glad women’s rights are advancing, slowly, but they are advancing.

    Question…does she legit need the time off, meaning she works during the only hrs that the office is open and the dr is available? Many places have early morning or late afternoon and evening hrs. Also employers are not required to give you the entire day off because you have a local 9 am apt. Otherwise she can request a vacation day. Laws only back you up if the employer is legitimately denying you your rights.
