Over the course of 35 years, Snyder has climbed the ranks and is now the assistant store manager of the Food Lion located in the Fiddlers Run shopping center in Morganton.

When asked about his dedication to the company, Snyder credits the people he works with for keeping him motivated and challenged. His store manager, Greg Simmons, played a significant role in Snyder’s growth within the company. Simmons not only guided him but also constantly pushed him to take on more responsibilities and face new challenges.

To recognize his commitment, Food Lion recently featured Snyder in a news release honoring employees who have dedicated a significant part of their lives to the grocery store.

Snyder’s journey at Food Lion started as a bagger, but he quickly progressed to becoming a cashier and then helping out in the fresh departments. He later transitioned to the role of a stocker in the grocery department, where he remained until the age of 26. At that point, he was promoted to the position of grocery manager.

Throughout his career, Snyder has always embraced challenges and strived for more. With every obstacle he overcame, another opportunity awaited him. This continuous cycle of growth and new opportunities has been a driving force behind his journey.

Opportunity played a crucial role in bringing Snyder to Morganton for the first time. Food Lion made a conscious effort to match employees’ personalities with the store managers, and Snyder found a great match in the Morganton area. He worked with the store manager there for five years, which eventually led to his promotion to assistant store manager eight years ago.

As an assistant store manager, Snyder’s responsibilities include recruiting, customer service, stocking, and ordering for the store. He ensures that the products on the shelves are fresh and handles various other tasks that arise during the day.

Snyder’s dedication to Food Lion is ultimately rooted in his connection with the people. He values the relationships he has built with his colleagues, the customers, and the community that the store serves. Food Lion is not just a grocery store to Snyder; it’s an integral part of the community, and he takes pride in ensuring that customers are well-fed and satisfied with the products provided.

Reflecting on the past 35 years, Snyder jokingly acknowledges that it makes him feel a little old. However, he emphasizes that these years have been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. He believes that staying with the company has shaped his life in unimaginable ways.
