Do they overtly threaten you in any way, or are they just rude and unprofessional? Seems like the latter. Keep your eye on the prize which is getting paid for the services you performed. Sounds like youāll have to hire your own lawyer to make that happen. Or if the amount is small enough, maybe you can use small claims court. Donāt assume that this unprofessional bozo of a lawyer is someone who was actually retained and will actually show up if there is litigation. It might just be a friend who wrote a letter as a favor.
NAL. You might want to confirm the customer actually hired this lawyer, and it isnāt just the customer pretending to be a lawyer. Look up the lawyerās phone number, call their office, and confirm they sent the letter. Do NOT just call the number on the letterhead, as that could be fake as well.

I would worry more about finding your own lawyer or resolving this case than reporting this lawyer to an overtaxed and overworked state bar, who will categorize a complaint about this letter as very low priority.

What might be more effective is if you left one star reviews on yelp and Google where you simply cut and paste the text of that lawyers letter, and you mention that he is unethical and unprofessional. Guessing that most lawyers would know not to put “legal” in quotes. I’m not a lawyer, but basic grammar seems to be a requirement of the profession. This letter is probably fake.

IANAL Bar complaints unless they are related to malpractice and hurting their own clients rights or their malpractice during a legal process, not requesting discovery, failing to provide services, failing to keep your case unprejudiced in your favor, not showing up for court appearances etc. no one caresā¦.
And although he was rudeā¦itās slightly unethical but more so unprofessional, he will likely hire an attorney to answer the complaint, and they will literally most likely admit to the language but also state he has a freedom of speech and nothing in the code of ethics requires him to use certain language or bars him from other language.
All it will do is piss this attorney off more and if you end up going to court to recoup whatever monies you feel you are entitled to if you lose your complaint they will certainly bring it up if you make it to trial.
