Others that live in Alabama can tell you about their experiences, but this link will let you research what the laws are like there…

It’s pretty bad. I think it’s worse than Florida, personally.

Registration is $250, must register annually (but it’s only $10 after the initial registration).

Drivers licenses are labeled, so anyone you ever have to show it to will see that.

They do notifications when you move there. The terms of those depend on the size of the city but the notifications are going out at least to everyone in a 1000 foot radius and all the local schools, daycares, etc… the fliers are either mailed or hand delivered and are hung up at the police departments and sometimes (from what I’ve heard, usually) published in the newspaper, on websites, and some places also put it on social media.

2000 foot residence restriction – for schools and childcare facilities (including church childcare) this includes hotels, vacation rentals, etc… and there’s a 500 foot restriction from working near parks, rec centers, athletic facilities, and playgrounds

Cannot live with any minor who is not biologically yours – if the victim was under 12 then may not even be able to live with their own child and cannot work with/around minors or go anywhere that children congregate.

Obviously can’t work anywhere that’s geared toward children.

You can’t leave the county you live in for more than 3 days without notifying the sheriff in each county of residence (anywhere you live or work or are registered) and sign a travel notification document. This document will contain the dates of travel, all destinations, lodging information, and any other relevant information so that they know exactly where you are all the time.

Even better, if you’re going to another another county in Alabama, you have to report in person to the sheriff of each county you plan to visit and get each one of them to sign your travel document.

The travel notification must be completed 21 days before the travel date. The only exception to this is in cases such as the death of a family member or a personal medical emergency. All of this information is given to the Alabama state police and the US Marshall service.

When you get back you have to go to your county registration office and turn that in.

Any violation is an automatic felony.

    Registration is lifetime.

It’s about as bad as Florida, except I think they have a non elected board who reviews requests to get off the registry.
