To highlight the importance of supporting local businesses, Senator Welch joined SBA District Director Darcy Carter in a tour of Winooski.

The SBA Vermont District Office is enthusiastic about encouraging residents and visitors alike to support local small businesses during the holiday season. As Darcy Carter, SBA Vermont District Director, passionately emphasized, “At the SBA Vermont District Office, we are honored to serve the over 78,800 small businesses that provide employment for 60% of our state’s workforce.” Small businesses not only play a crucial role in job creation but also foster community spirit and resilience.

Many Winooski small businesses have faced challenges due to substantial local construction. This Small Business Saturday, we invite everyone to unite in supporting the local businesses that are essential to making communities vibrant and connected.

Highlights from the Winooski Walking Tour

During the walking tour, several noteworthy local businesses were showcased:

• Golden Hour Gifts: Founded by Nicole Carey in 2015, this charming gift shop is dedicated to supporting local artists and makers, and it emphasizes feel-good shopping experiences.

• Autumn Records: Established in 2017 by musician Greg Davis, this record shop serves as a community hub where music lovers can gather, fostering a sense of belonging through shared musical interests.

• Vermont Furniture Design: With a rich history spanning over 50 years, this furniture maker led by Rob Bachand and Adam Blaisdell specializes in transforming sustainably sourced hardwood into exquisite furniture pieces.
