## Situation Overview:
I have two children who both receive child support, one is $400 and the other is $200 a month. (Different dads)

## Issue:
My youngest child was approved for SSI but they are counting both amounts and only waiving 1/3 for the total. So they added all $600 and counting $400 as the 2/3.

## Current Status:
I’m currently unemployed since I spend 24/7 taking care of my child.

## Misunderstanding:
I thought my other child’s support wouldn’t be included in the 2/3 and since she is an ineligible there is an allocation.

## Additional Concern:
Also when I did the non-medical interview they didn’t ask how much I pay for rent, is that normal?

The child support from the other child should not be directly counted in deciding your child’s SSI. Could be that it just got entered on the wrong child in the record. Call the number they gave you and speak to someone to get it corrected. If you don’t get a hold of someone not a bad idea to send something in writing

Could be counted with total household income, but you have to call and find out the reasons.

the ineligible child won’t get the allocation being ineligible due to the child support (or the allocation will be reduced if the allocation is less than her child support). But the SSI will not be reduced based on the ineligible child’s child support.

But since you are not working, it won’t effect the SSI benefit amount since the allocation only really helps if you are working and have income and you are trying to reduce the deeming
